Continuando nossa viagem das quintas-feiras, hoje vamos para o Le Palais du Soleil em Versailles, França.
Posso dizer que em toda a viagem que fiz este foi o Palácio mais bonito que vi. É suntuoso, enorme, bem decorado, um luxo difícil de descrever em palavras e mesmo em fotos.

Continuing our journey of every Thursday, today we're going to Le Palais du Soleil in Versailles, France.
I may say that by far this palace was the most beautiful I've ever seen. It is sumptuous, huge, well decorated, a luxury hard to describe in words and even pictures.
Um pouco da história do Palácio do Sol:
Em 1627, Luiz XIII construiu um pequeno castelo em Versalhes onde ele ficava quando ia caçar e quando queria se ausentar das turbulências da corte e dos problemas em Paris.
Após a morte de Luiz XIII, seu filho Luiz XIV também conhecido como Rei-Sol resolveu enfatizar o apelido e construir um palácio digno de um rei.
Assim, em 1661 Luiz XIV começou a construir o que seria o maior Palácio do mundo e tornou-se obcecado em mostrar luxo nessa construção.
A brief history of the Palace of the Sun:
In 1627, Louis XIII built a small castle in Versailles to stay during his hunts and also when we wanted to leave the court and the turbulence of the problems in Paris.
After the death of Louis XIII, his son Louis XIV also known as the Sun King decided to emphasize his nickname and build a palace fit for a king. So, in 1661, Louis XIV began to build what would be the largest palace in the world and became obsessed with the building.
Mais de 30 mil pessoas trabalhavam simultaneamente na construção durante o reinado de Luiz XIV, ou seja, o número mínimo de trabalhadores era sempre 30 mil não importando a situação do país, que naquela época tinha guerras civis, doenças e pestes.
More than 30 thousand people worked simultaneously in the construction during the reign of Louis XIV, in other words, the minimum number of workers was 30 000 no matter the situation of the country, which at that time had civil wars, diseases and pests.
Em 1682, a corte mudou-se para Versalhes que se tornou a capital da França até 1789, numa Monarquia absoluta.
A corte de Luiz XIV tinha cerca de 20.000 pessoas dentre as quais 9.000 soldados (aquartelados na cidade de Versalhes), mil cortesãos e perto de 4 mil criados que moravam no Palácio.
Apesar do número de criados ser grande o trabalho para manter o Palácio limpo também era, e assim as condições de higiene não eram das melhores.
In 1682, the court moved to Versailles which became the capital of France until 1789, an absolute monarchy.
The court of Louis XIV had about 20,000 people among which 9,000 soldiers (stationed in the town of Versailles), a thousand courtiers and 4000 servants who lived in the palace. Despite the large number of servants it was hard to keep the palace clean and also the hygiene conditions at that time were not the best.
Após a morte de Luiz XIV, seu bisneto, Luiz XV construiu o Petit Trianon que tempos depois tornou-se o refúgio de Maria Antonieta, mulher de Luiz XVI.
A Revolução Francesa aconteceu em 1789 acabando com a corte do Palácio de Versalhes que teve os móveis e adereços vendidos ou roubados. Era o fim dos grandes dias de luxo e glória do Palácio que ficou fechado e abandonado por muitos anos.
After the death of Louis XIV, his great-grandson, Louis XV built the Petit Trianon that years later became the refuge of Marie Antoinette, wife of Louis XVI.
The French Revolution happened in 1789 ending the court of Versailles so the furniture and props were sold or stolen. It was the end of the great days of luxury and glory of the Palace that remained closed and abandoned for many years.
Por volta do século XIX, em 1837, o Palácio foi restaurado e tornou-se um museu de história até hoje.
By the nineteenth century, in 1837, the palace was restored and became a museum of history until today.
É uma área enorme com jardins bem cuidados, fontes, estátuas, vasos e turistas por todos os lados!
Perdi as conta de por quantos salões andei, todos finamente decorados já que uma pequena parte do mobiliário foi recuperada. A Arte domina o teto dos salões e as pinturas retratando as pessoas importantes da época dominam as paredes.
It is a huge area with beautiful gardens, fountains, statues, vases and tourists everywhere!
I lost count of how many rooms I walked by, all finely decorated since a small part of the furniture was recovered. The Art dominates the ceilings of the rooms and lots of paintings depicting important people of that time dominate the walls.
Na próxima quinta vamos continuar nesse Palácio vendo seus cômodos, móveis, pinturas, jardins...tudo inesquecível!
