Quer mais cores na sua caixa de pintura mas ela é pequena, o que fazer?? DESTRUA! Brincadeirinha....

A caixa de pintura que mais uso no momento é esta mas precisei modifica-la pra caber mais tintas. Originalmente com 12 cores e "magicamente" com 24 agora. Como fazer?

Want more colors in your paint box but it is small, how to make it ?? DESTROYING it! Just kidding....

The paint box I use most at the moment is this one but I needed to modify it to fit more paints. Originally 12 colors and "magically" with 24 now. How to?

No vídeo mostro como aumentar esta caixa de Aquarela da Daler-Rowney, originalmente com 12 cores para, no mínimo, 30 cores. Na verdade também depende do tamanho das caixinhas que contém as tintas, existem as pequenas e as grandes, então com caixas pequenas acredito que eu consiga colocar um pouco mais de 40 cores. Se usar as caixas grandes misturadas com as pequenas talvez umas 30, depende do quanto de cada tamanho for usar.

In the video I show you how to increase this box of Daler-Rowney Watercolor, originally with 12 colors for at least 30 colors. In fact it also depends on the size of the panss that contain the paints, there are small and large pans, so with small pans I believe I can put a little more than 40 colors. If using large pans mixed with small ones maybe 30, it depends on how many pans of each size is used.

E a "mágica" é bem simples: com o auxílio de uma espátula ou régua eu removo as ferragens que seguram as caixinhas de tinta!

As ferragens eu guardo, não sei pra quê exatamente, mas guardo....

And the "magic" is very simple: with the help of a spatula or ruler I remove the hardware that holds the pans!

 I keep the hardware, I do not know why exactly, but I keep them ....

E assim tenho uma caixa de pintura completamente ampla para colocar mais cores e nas posições que eu quiser. Embaixo de cada caixinha eu coloco uma bolinha de massa Pritt, posiciono dentro da caixa de pintura  e pressiono para aderir, e pronto!

A massa Pritt é que segura as caixinhas e o melhor é que posso retira-las quando eu quiser porque essa massa sai com facilidade.

And so I have a box of paint completely wide to add more colors and in the positions that I want. Under each pan I put a Pritt dough, position it inside the paint box and press to join, and that's it!

The Pritt dough is the one that holds the pans and the best is that I can remove them whenever I want because the dough comes out easily.

A Viagem (157): Nas ruas de Edinburgh (The Trip: On the streets of Edinburgh)

Em Edinburgh as ruas são um convite ao passado mas também a lugares divertidos, a artistas fazendo  shows, aliás, quase todos os dias podemos ver pessoas cantando, tocando algum instrumento musical, ou grupo de pessoas interpretando uma peça teatral. Todo dia é dia de alegria mas sem esquecer que esta é uma cidade medieval, basta olhar pro castelo e ele não nos deixa esquecer disso.

In Edinburgh the streets are an invitation to the past but also to fun places, to artists doing shows, incidentally, almost every day we can see people singing, playing some musical instrument, or group of people playing a play. Every day is a day of joy but without forgetting that this is a medieval city, just look at the castle and it does not let us forget it.

Essa loja de fantasias, cor de abóbora gritante, me faz pensar que é Halloween o ano inteiro! Acho que todas as fantasias e objetos do mundo relacionados a Halloween estão ali dentro! Mas isso tem uma explicação: durante todo o ano há festas em Edinburgh e muitas delas são no pátio do castelo onde são montadas arquibancadas para o público. São interessantíssimas e pra quem não está acostumado podem ser um pouco assustadoras também. Pra mim, Edinburgh é meu lugar ideal no mundo.

This fanciful, pumpkin-colored costumes shop makes me think it's Halloween all year long! I am almost sure that all the costumes and objects of the world related to Halloween are in this shop! But this has an explanation:  there are parties in Edinburgh all year long and many of them are in the courtyard of the castle where stands are set up for the public. These parties are very interesting and for those who are not used to it can be a bit scary. For me, Edinburgh is my ideal place in the world.

 Logo abaixo do castelo essa é uma rua de pedestres, larga, uma enorme praça no meio, e várias lojas e cafés onde as pessoas sentam calmamente pra 'olhar a vida". Parece que o mundo não existe fora de Edinburgh, tamanha é a magia dessa cidade.

Just below the castle this is a wide pedestrian street, with a huge square in the middle, and several shops and cafes where people sit quietly to 'look at life.' It seems the world does not exist outside Edinburgh, such is the magic of this city.

E bem perto do castelo, todos os dias podemos ver e ouvir um show: este homem, devidamente vestido como um autêntico escocês toca canções em sua gaita de foles por algumas horas, durante a tarde. O som é fascinante, ao menos pra mim que fico hipnotizada ao som desse instrumento musical.

And very close to the castle, every day, we can see and hear a show: this man, properly dressed as an authentic Scot, plays songs in his bagpipe for a few hours in the afternoon. The sound is fascinating, at least to me as I am mesmerized by the sound of this musical instrument.

Então, não resisti: peguei meu sketchbook e ali mesmo tentei colocar no papel um pouco do que eu via, rapidamente.

Abaixo você verá o desenho apenas com caneta, clique nele para salvar em seu computador e  imprima para depois pintar. O meu desenho já está pronto então pra poder colocar no papel apenas em caneta pra você, eu coloquei uma folha transparente em cima do meu desenho, copiei e aqui está:

So I could not resist: I got my sketchbook and right there I tried to sketch what I saw, on the paper, quickly.

Below you will see the  drawing, click on it to save to your computer,  print and then paint.  I put a transparent sheet of paper on top of my painting,  copied it and here it is:

E aqui está o desenho aquarelado, feito rápido, no local, em meio a um monte de olhares curiosos de turistas que escutavam a música, e dividiam o olhar entre o tocador de gaita e meu sketchbook.

And here is the watercolor drawing, made quick on the spot, amid a lot of curious looks of tourists listening to the music, and they shared the look between the bagpipe player and my sketchbook.

Velas decoradas com Decoupage #2- DIY (Candles decorated with Decoupage)

No post de ontem mostrei fotos de 2 velas decoradas com a técnica de Decoupage e um vídeo mostrando o passo a passo de como colar o guardanapo em uma vela. Ontem eu fiz a vela natalina e hoje vou mostrar, por fotos, como fiz a outra vela. 

Mas veja que uma vez que se aprende a colar o guardanapo em uma vela isso vale pra todas, não importa o tamanho e o formato da vela: pode ser uma vela enorme, e nesse caso usamos o guardanapo inteiro ou vamos colando pedaços de guardanapos até que a vela esteja toda coberta. Pode ser uma vela quadrada, triangular, redonda, em qualquer formato.

In the previous post I showed photos of 2 candles decorated with the technique of Decoupage and a video showing, step by step, how to stick a napkin in a candle. Yesterday I made a Christmas candle and today I'm going to show, by pictures, how I made the other candle.



But note that once you learn how to glue the napkin to a candle, this is true for everyone, no matter the size and shape of the candle: it can be a huge candle, and in that case we use the whole napkin or we stick pieces of napkins so the candle is all covered. It can be a square, triangular, round candle, in any shape.



 Pra essa técnica eu preciso de:

- 1 guardanapo;

- 1 aquecedor de emboss;

- 1 folha de papel vegetal.

- detalhes opcionais pra decorar como pérolas, fitas, pedras brilhantes, tinta relevo para fazer pequenas bolinhas, purpurina, cola pra fixar esses detalhes.....enfim....o que a sua imaginação quiser!

For this technique we need:

- 1 napkin;

- 1 emboss heater;

- 1 sheet of parchment paper.



- optional details to decorate like pearls, ribbons, shiny stones, relief paint to make small balls, glitter, glue to fix these details ..... anyway ... whatever your imagination wants!



Vamos medir o tamanho do guardanapo em relação à vela e cortar o excedente.

Let's measure the size of the napkin in relation to the candle and cut off the excess.

Os guardanapos normalmente tem 3 camadas de papel, vamos retirar as 2 camadas brancas e usar apenas a camada que tem o desenho. As outras 2 você pode usar pra fazer Arte do Dia.

The napkins usually have 3 layers of paper, we will remove the 2 white layers and use only the layer that has the design. The other 2 we can use to do Art Journaling.

Agora vamos colocar o guardanapo sobre a vela, posicionando de acordo com o desenho e cortando o guardanapo com as mãos, ajustando  pra que um desenho não fique sobre o outro.

Now let's put the napkin on the candle, positioning it according to the drawing and cutting the napkin with the hands, adjusting so that one drawing is not over the other.

O papel vegetal deve ser colocado sobre a vela (que está coberta com o guardanapo) e mantido firme pois agora é o momento de aquecer a vela.

The parchment paper should be placed on the candle (which is covered with the napkin) and kept firm because now is the time to warm the candle.

Com o aquecedor ligado e sem encostar na vela vamos aquecendo toda a superfície e "como mágica"  vemos o guardanapo aderir á vela, sob o papel vegetal.

With the heater on and without leaning on the candle let's heat the entire surface and "like magic" we see the napkin adhere to the candle under the parchment paper.

Após o aquecimento de toda a vela retiramos o papel vegetal ........

After heating  all the candle we remove the parchment paper ........

E voilà! Uma vela perfeita e linda!

And voilà! A perfect and beautiful candle!

E por fim, é só usar a imaginação e o material que tivermos pra decorar a vela! Não precisa envernizar, aliás, não podemos usar verniz porque é um material inflamável!



E assim temos uma linda vela pronta pra decorar a casa, pra dar de presente e pra vender e o melhor é que podemos fazer essa arte o ano inteiro com materiais simples, fáceis de achar e econômicos.

And finally, just use the imagination and the material that you have to decorate the candle! No need to varnish, in fact, we can not use varnish because it is a flammable material!

And so we have a beautiful candle ready to decorate the house, to give as a gift, to sell and the best thing is that we can make this art the whole year with simple and  easy to find materials.

Ás vezes a gente pensa que velas são apenas pra enfeitar a casa, dar de presente, vender mas só na época do Natal....mas podemos fazer isso o ano inteiro, afinal, quem não gosta de velas?

Além de decorativas são úteis e podem ser usadas em várias ocasiões e a primeira delas é quando falta a luz! 

Bom, mas vamos falar de situações mais românticas do que uma simples falta de luz?!

Podemos usa-las pra iluminar um jantar romântico; podem ser colocadas em volta de uma banheira em um banho relaxante; podemos distribuí-las pela casa, em lugares estratégicos, pra criar uma atmosfera acolhedora; em aniversários e comemorações ficam lindas quando são colocadas sobre as mesas e em pedestais; ficam lindas também em jardins.....enfim, vela é tudo de bom e decorar velas com a técnica da Decoupage é muito fácil, rápido, econômico e de grande efeito!

 Sometimes we think that candles are just to decorate the house, give as a gift, sell..... only at Christmas time ... but we can do this all over the year, after all, who doesn't like candles?

In addition to decorative they are useful and can be used on several occasions and the first one is when the light is missing!



Well, but let's talk about more romantic situations than a simple lack of light ?!



We can use them to light up a romantic dinner; they can be placed around a tub in a relaxing bath; we can distribute them around the house, in strategic places, to create a welcoming atmosphere; in anniversaries and celebrations for example, they are beautiful when placed on the tables and in pedestals; they are also beautiful in gardens .....and decorating candles with the Decoupage technique is very easy, fast, economical and of great effect!

Nas velas das fotos usei pérolas, pedrinhas brilhantes e gesso de textura pra imitar a neve, além de guardanapos lindos.



A colagem do guardanapo é feita apenas esquentando um pouco a vela com aquecedor ou até com as costas de uma colher de metal aquecida.

No próximo post vou mostrar como fiz a vela com pérolas, e no vídeo abaixo eu mostro como fazer a vela natalina. Então, vamos fazer?

In these the candles  I used pearls, shiny pebbles and textured plaster to imitate the snow, plus beautiful napkins.

To glue the napkin simply warm the candle with a heater or even with the back of a heated metal spoon.

In the next post I will show how I made the candle with pearls, and in the video below I show how to make the Christmas candle. So, let's make it?!

Bolas de Natal #2 - Aquarela 15 (Christmas Ball Ornaments # 1 - Watercolor 14) - VIDEO

Desta vez vamos fazer um cartão duplo, daquele que abre e fecha, mas com aquarela, claro. 

No post anterior eu sugeri que você chamasse a família e os amigos pra ajudar na pintura e neste mantenho a minha sugestão, afinal, pintar já é ótimo e pintar em grupo vira uma brincadeira maravilhosa, tudo no espírito natalino.

Você vai precisar de:

- 1 folha de papel vermelha ou verde para dobrar ao meio;

- 1 folha de papel pra aquarela, ligeiramente menor que a metade da folha que você dobrou (pra deixar margens em volta);

- 2 recipientes com água filtrada;

- toalha pequena;

- 1 pincel redondo e pequeno para os detalhes:

- 1 pincel redondo maior, nº 6, 10 ou 12 por exemplo;

- aquarela nas cores: Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red; Cadmium Yellow; Phtalo Green; Purple.

- fita dupla face;

- Medium Iridescente para aquarela (opcional);

- carimbo natalino (opcional);

- secador de emboss (opcional).

Você pode escolher outras cores de aquarela, por exemplo, pintar bolinhas azuis e vermelhas, use as cores você tem, o que importa é ser feliz no momento!

This time we will make a double card, the one that opens and closes, but with watercolor, of course.

In the previous post I suggested that you call family and friends to help  painting and in this post I keep my suggestion, after all, painting is already great and painting in group turns into a wonderful joke, all in the Christmas spirit.

You will need:

- 1 sheet of red or green paper to fold in half;

- 1 sheet of watercolor paper, slightly smaller than half of the sheet that you folded (to leave margins around);

- 2 containers with filtered water;

- small towel;

- 1 round and small brush for details:

- 1 larger round brush # 6, 10 or 12 for example;

- watercolor: Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red; Cadmium Yellow; Phtalo Green; Purple.

- double-sided tape;

- Iridescent medium for watercolor (optional);

- Christmas stamp (optional);

- emboss dryer (optional).

You can choose other colors, for example, paint blue and red marbles, use the colors you have, what matters is to be happy at the moment!

A Viagem (156): Um pouco mais sobre Edinburgh (The Trip: A Little More About Edinburgh)

Esta lareira da foto fica no castelo Stirling, nos arredores de Edinburgh e  lembra muito a minha infância na casa da minha avó, numa cidadezinha medieval lá no meio da Europa. 

Assim que acordava minha avó já colocava 2 caldeirões com água pra ferver, e com eles preparava toda a comida do dia. Normalmente era algum ensopado com carne de caça e legumes e arroz, ou risoto. Os caldeirões com a comidas ficavam praticamente o dia todo cozinhando: primeiro pro almoço e depois pro jantar. Ah, e ainda tinha a ceia!

A comida era divina! Legumes frescos cortados na horta em frente de casa e acho que foi nessa época que aprendi a gostar de cogumelos, ou sanchas como dizia minha avó. Eram especiais, colhidos bem perto de castanheiros e carvalhos, alguns sob a terra, branquinhos, uma dádiva dos deuses.

This fireplace on the photo is in Stirling Castle on the outskirts of Edinburgh and reminds me very much of my childhood at my grandmother's house in a medieval town in the middle of Europe.

As soon as she woke up she would put 2 cauldrons with boiling water, and with them she would prepare all the food for the day. Usually it was some stew with meat and vegetables, and rice, or risotto. The cauldrons with the food were practically all day cooking: first for lunch and then for dinner. Oh, and there still had supper!

The food was divine! Fresh vegetables cut in the garden in front of my grandma's house and I think it was at this time that I learned to like mushrooms, or "sanchas" as my grandmother used to say. They were special, picked very close to chestnut trees and oaks, some under the ground, white, a gift from the gods.

E assim, a lareira do castelo foi desenhada e pintada no meu sketchbook, apesar de não ser a da minha avó, é muito parecida!

And so, the fireplace in the castle was drawn and painted in my sketchbook, although it is not my grandmother's, it is very similar!

No post anterior eu comentei sobre meu fascínio por portas, então aqui estão mais duas. Eu simplesmente não consigo evitar: se são antigas, ou bonitas, eu fotografo!

In the previous post I commented on my fascination for doors, so here are two more doors. I just can not help it: if they are old, or beautiful, I photograph!

Fico imaginando o por quê de uma porta assim tão forte, que tesouros guardava? Ou prisioneiros perigosos? Dragões?

I wonder why a so strong door, what treasures did it keep? Or dangerous prisoners? Dragons?

Falando em castelo, a vista do castelo de Edinburgh é linda. Aliás, a vista de qualquer castelo é linda porque, no mínimo, temos um belo campo ao redor, ou um lago, ou até uma vista pro imenso mar.

Speaking of castle, the view of Edinburgh Castle is beautiful. In fact, the view of any castle is beautiful because at least we have a beautiful countryside around, or a lake, or even a view of the immense sea.

Dias nublados, vista nublada....mas eu gosto, faz parte do clima escocês e dá um certo charme ás cidades.

A vida em Edinburgh era boa, eu me sentia em casa. E como sinto falta disso.

Cloudy days, cloudy view .... but I like it, it is part of the Scottish climate and gives a certain charm to the cities.

Life in Edinburgh was good, I felt like I'm home. And how I miss it.

Sabonetes com Decoupage - DIY (Soaps in Decoupage)

Natal chegando....enfeitar a casa, presentes....incrementar as vendas.....vamos fazer um artesanato simples, bonito e útil? Então vamos fazer sabonetes com Decoupage!

É uma arte fácil e rápida, além disso você pode fazer vários sabonetes de uma vez só!

Christmas coming up .... spruce up the house, gifts .... boost sales ..... let's make a simple craft, but beautiful and useful! So let's make soaps with Decoupage!

It's an easy and quick art, plus you can make lots of soaps all at once!

O material é simples:



- sabonetes brancos;

- estilete ou faca para tirar a marca da empresa no sabonete, e tirar imperfeições;

- guardanapos com fundo branco;

- verniz geral;

- pincel redondo pequeno;

- recipiente com água;

- pincel chato pequeno;

- aguarrás pra limpar o pincel;

- cola pra Decoupage (opcional).

The material is simple:

- white soaps;

- stylus or knife to take the company brand out the soap, and take out imperfections;

- napkins with white background;

- general varnish;

- small round brush;

- container with water;

- small flat brush;

- turpentine to clean the brush;



- Decoupage glue (optional).

Ficam lindos com flores e com motivos natalinos e são uma forma delicada de lembrar das pessoas neste Natal, afinal, quem não gostaria de ganhar um presente assim fofo?

They are beautiful with flowers and Christmas motifs and are a delicate way for gifts on  Christmas, after all, who would not want to win a gift so cute?

Além disso é uma verdadeira terapia passar a tarde fazendo esses sabonetes; você pode reunir a família, amigos e todos podem fazer essa bela arte porque Natal é isso: juntar pessoas que se gostam, que são amigas, e ser feliz!

In addition it is a real therapy to spend the afternoon making these soaps; you can bring family, friends and everyone can make this beautiful art because Christmas is this: join people we love, join friends, and be happy!

Natal praticamente batendo á nossa porta no mês de Novembro e dá aquela vontade louca de fazer tudo: enfeitar a casa, enfeitar a árvore de Natal, pensar nos doces para a ceia, nos presentinhos.....pensar na família, nos amigos...... e fazer Arte! Arte por toda a parte!

Cartões de Natal são uma verdadeira terapia pra quem faz e uma emoção pra quem recebe. Este ano vou fazer muitos, todos em aquarela porque o efeito é lindo, secam rápido então "pintou está pronto".

Christmas practically knocking at our door in November giving us that crazy desire to do everything: to home decorate, to decorate the Christmas tree, to think of the candies for the supper, the presents ... to think about the family,  friends. ..... and make Art! Art everywhere!

Christmas cards are a real therapy for those who make and an emotion for those who receive them. This year I will paint many, all in watercolor because the effect is beautiful and  dry fast.

É possível fazer vários de uma vez: enquanto algumas partes de uma pintura estão secando podemos começar a pintar outro cartão, depois voltar e acabar o primeiro, e assim vai.

Outra coisa boa é que podemos reunir a família e os amigos pra pintar também! Não importa se já sabem pintar ou não, o que importa é a união, a alegria, o riso, afinal, o Natal é a época mais linda do ano.



Então, pegue seus papéis pra aquarela, corte em tamanhos diversos, pegue suas tintas e pincéis, chame a criançada, mães, pais, avós, amigos, todos,  e vamos lá!

It is possible to paint several cards at a time: while some parts of a painting are drying we can start to paint another card, then come back and finish the first, and so on.

Another good thing is that we can invite family and friends to paint too! It does not matter if they already know how to paint or not, what matters is the union, the joy, the laughter, after all, Christmas is the most beautiful time of the year.



So pick up your watercolor papers, cut into various sizes, get your paints and brushes, call the kids, mom, dad, grandparents, friends, everyone, and let's go!
