OUTONO: Renove suas Folhas - Art Journaling (AUTUMN: Renew Your Leaves)

"Minha nossa, que vontade de fazer uma Arte do Dia!"

Faz tempo que digo essa frase, desde o ano passado...mas estava tão envolvida com os Junk Journals que não consegui ter tempo pra relaxar e fazer essa arte!



E também o calor extremo aqui do Rio não permitia concentração alguma!! Que calor!!

Cheguei a sonhar com neve, chuva, frio.....adoro tudo isso.

"My goodness, how I wish to do an Art of the Day!"

I've been saying that phrase since last year ... but I was so involved with the Junk Journals that I did not have time to relax and do this art!

Also, the extreme heat here in Rio did not allow some concentration !! Hot like Hell !!

I even dreamed of snow, rain, cold ..... I love it all.

Chegamos em 2019, o verão acabou (graças a Deus!), entrou o Outono e me animei: é a hora de pegar meu material de arte, meu caderno e deixar a imaginação fluir e como adoro o Outono, claro que minha arte foi pra homenagear essa linda estação do ano.

We arrived in 2019, summer is over (thank goodness!), Autumn came in and I encouraged myself: it's time to get my art supplies, my notebook and let my imagination flow and as I love autumn, of course my art was to  honor this beautiful season of the year.

A arte foi bem simples: inicialmente usei stencil e gesso de textura, depois usei o crayon Gelatos nas cores verde, amarela, laranja, azul e vermelho para aguar 2 folhas brancas e deixei secar, recortei folhagens nessas folhas onde usei Gelatos...

The art was very simple: I initially used stencil and texture gesso, then I used Gelato crayons in the colors green, yellow, orange, blue and red to water 2 white sheets and let them all dry, I cut foliage on those sheets where I used Gelatos ...

.....preparei a base com gelatos também, usei carimbos de folhas, tinta metálica pra realçar a base e fui posicionando as folhagens pra compor uma floresta.

 ..... I prepared the base with Gelatos as well, I used stamps of leaves, some metallic ink to emphasize the details and I positioned the foliages to compose a forest.

Na minha floresta há sempre personagens como duendes, por exemplo, e também fiz as laterais na cor dourada.

In my forest there are always characters like goblins, for example, and I also made the sides in the golden color.

Sombreei com caneta marrom, afinal, sombra é vida, e com stencil fiz as letras da minha frase.

I shaded with brown pen, after all, shadow is life, and with stencil I made the letters of my sentence.

Então, renove suas folhas, aproveite o Outono e retire o que já não serve mais pra dar lugar a coisas novas, é essa a mensagem do Outono!

So, renew your leaves, enjoy the autumn and remove what is no longer useful to make room to new things, this is the message of Autumn!

- caderno;

- gesso de textura (tem vídeo meu lá no youtube);

In this art I've  used:

DISCO CROMÁTICO #3: Sombra e Perspectiva de 2 pontos

No último post e vídeo falamos sobre como as Cores Complementares podem ser usadas para acrescentar interesse á sombra de um objeto.

Hoje vamos falar um pouco mais sobre esse artifício interessante, esse jogo de cores.

No exemplo abaixo, vemos um cubo, desenhado em perspectiva de forma correta e digo "de forma correta" porque quando estamos na escola, nos primeiros anos escolares, desenhamos um cubo com extrema facilidade durante a aula de matemática quando estamos aprendendo a calcular seus lados, seu volume, etc.... esse desenho simples e rápido é o que fiz a lápis, do lado esquerdo.

Do lado direito, em vermelho, um cubo em perspectiva de 2 pontos, bem mais interessante do que o anterior e você pode ver como desenha-lo corretamente no vídeo logo abaixo.

Perceba que vemos apenas 3 lados desse cubo, onde a fonte de luz está do lado direito e acima do cubo. Na parte de cima do cubo, a luz bate diretamente então temos um o tom mais claro de vermelho. 

No lado direito do cubo percebemos que uma parte é mais clara - a que está mais perto da luz - e outra parte mais escura - a que está mais afastada da luz.

 No lado esquerdo do cubo, temos o vermelho mais forte, mais pigmentado pois é o lado em que não há a incidência de luz e é a partir desse lado que a sombra se desenvolve.

Inicialmente pintei esse lado esquerdo do cubo com a tinta vermelha e num tom médio pintei também a sombra. Como usei aquarela, consegui pintar o verde por cima da sombra vermelha ainda úmida e obter um marrom, bem perto do cubo, e com o pincel fui estendendo a cor até o final da sombra onde ela fica mais clara.

Também manchei de marrom um pouco do lado esquerdo do cubo visto que nessa lateral não há luz.

Por fim, no vídeo você pode ver toda essa experiência de cores, pintei a sombra com um pouco de preto para vermos a diferença no interesse do olhar. A sombra feita com a mistura do vermelho e do verde é muito mais rica do que se a pintássemos apenas com a cor preta.

Faça essa experiência: desenhe objetos e use Cores Complementares para pinta-los e pintar suas sombras, depois desenhe os mesmos objetos novamente mas desta vez pinte suas sombras de preto, ou mesmo de marrom, e compare os resultados.

In the last post and video we talked about how Complementary Colors can be used to add interest to the shadow of an object.

Today we will talk a little more about this interesting artifice, this game of colors.

In the example above, we see a cube, drawn in perspective correctly, and I say "correctly" because when we are in the early school years we draw a cube with extreme ease during math class when we are learning to calculate its sides , its volume, etc .... this simple and fast drawing is what I did in pencil on the left side.

On the right side, in red, a cube in perspective of 2 points, much more interesting than the previous one and you can see how to draw it correctly in the video below.

Notice that we see only 3 sides of this cube, where the light source is on the right side and above the cube. On the top of the cube, the light beats directly then we have a lighter shade of red.

On the right side of the cube we notice that one part is lighter - the one that is closer to the light - and the other one is darker - the one that is further away from the light.

On the left side of the cube, we have the stronger red, more pigmented because it is the side where there is no incidence of light and it is from this side that the shadow develops.

Initially I painted this left side of the cube with the red paint and in an average tone I also painted the shadow. As I used watercolor, I managed to paint the green over the still damp red shade and get a brown, very close to the cube, and with the brush I spread the color until the end of the shade where it becomes lighter.

Also I stained brown a little on the left side of the cube since there is no light on this side.

Finally, in the video you can see all this experience of colors, I painted the shadow with a little black to see the difference in the interest of the look. The shade made with the mixture of red and green is much richer than if we had painted it only with the black color.

Make this experiment: Draw objects and use Complementary Colors to paint them and paint their shadows, then draw the same objects again but this time paint their shades with black, or even brown, and compare the results.

Modelos de Estiletes e Como cortar Papelão (Models of Stilettos and How to Cut Cardboard)

Falar de estiletes é bem fácil apesar dos vários modelos que existem atualmente no mercado.

Com alguns tamanhos de lâminas e em modelos específicos para algumas finalidades, essas ferramentas são as que mais uso aqui no estúdio e é com elas que corto a maior parte dos papéis e papelões que coloco nos meus livros artesanais.

Estiletes são amplamente usados não só por quem faz artesanato mas também por outros tipos de profissionais, então hoje em dia temos os tradicionais estiletes de lâminas retas e também temos estiletes de lâminas circulares, mais pontudas, mais estreitas, mais largas.....são muitas opções.

Talking about stilettos is very easy despite the various models that currently exist in the market.

With some blade sizes and specific models for some purposes, these tools are the ones I use the most here in the studio and  with them I cut out most of the paper and cardboard I put in my craft books.

Stilettos are widely used not only by those who make handicrafts but also by other types of professionals, so nowadays we have the traditional stilettos of straight blades and we also have stilettos of circular blades, more pointed, narrower, wider ... there are many options. 

Sempre indico às pessoas que comprem estiletes profissionais porque a lâmina é a mesma que usamos nos estiletes comuns mas o corpo da ferramenta é bem diferente: nos profissionais o corpo é resistente, confere mais firmeza e segurança quando o pegamos enquanto que em um estilete comum o corpo é de plástico quebrável.

Também em muitos estiletes profissionais existe um compartimento para uma lâmina extra, que pode ser muito bem vinda quando precisamos!

I always tell people to buy professional stilettos because the blade is the same as the ones we use on the regular stilettos but the tool body is quite different: in the professionals the body is resistant, giving more firmness and safety when we handle them while in a common stiletto the body is made of breakable plastic.

Also in many professional stilettos there is a compartment for an extra blade, which can be very welcome when we need it!

Os estiletes com lâminas largas são excelentes para cortes de folhas de papel e de papelão, mas quando há a necessidade de cortes menores e precisos o melhor é usar a caneta estilete.

Nas canetas podemos colocar Alguns tipos de lâminas: mais finas, em forma de faca, em forma de cinzel.... tudo para melhorar a precisão do corte.

Stilettos with wide blades are excellent for cutting paper and cardboard, but when smaller and accurate cuts are needed, it is best to use the stylus pen.

In the pens we can put some types of blades: thinner, knife-shaped, chisel-shaped ... all to improve the precision of the cut.

Inclusive, podemos ter um estilete que se encaixa anatomicamente nos dedos e dá mais conforto e firmeza na hora do corte. 

A única reclamação que tenho sobre as canetas estilete é que as lâminas são caras, nem sempre achamos as lâminas que queremos e as caixas vem apenas com 3 unidades!

In addition, we can have a stylus that fits anatomically on the fingers and gives more comfort and firmness at the time of cutting.

The only complaint I have about the stylus pens is that the blades are expensive, we do not always find the blades we want and the boxes come with only 3 units!

O estilete com lâmina circular é bem útil quando se quer cortar tecidos, gosto mais dele do que da tesoura pra essa finalidade mas quando se trata de cortar papel não indico porque acho difícil o posicionamento dele paralelo á régua metálica, normalmente ele sai da régua e o alvo mais fácil são os nossos dedos.

 The circular blade stylus is very useful when cutting fabrics, I like it more than scissors for this purpose but when it comes to cutting paper I do not indicate it because I find it difficult to position it parallel to the metal ruler, it usually leaves the ruler and the easiest target is our fingers.

Existem também estiletes para cortar círculos, como se fossem um compasso e ainda os estiletes elétricos, bem úteis, mas não uso nenhum desses aqui no estúdio.

There are also stilettos to cut circles, as if they were a compass, and the electric stilettos, very useful, but I do not use any of these here in the studio.

E como cortar um papelão perfeitamente?

Muito simples: apoiamos a régua metálica com firmeza em cima do papelão e posicionamos o estilete perfeitamente na vertical em relação à régua e ao papelão e começamos a cortar. A pressão que devemos fazer não pode cansar nossa mão e braço, então deve-se passar o estilete quantas vezes forem necessárias para cortar o papelão, com calma e sem pressa.

And how do we perfectly cut a cardboard?

Well,  we position the metal ruler firmly on the cardboard and position the stylus perfectly vertically in relation to the ruler and the cardboard and begin to cut. The pressure we must do can not tire our hand and arm, so we must pass the stylus as many times as necessary to cut the cardboard, calmly and without haste.

O resultado desse corte deve fazer exatamente um ângulo de 90 graus quando as 2 partes do papelão são colocadas como mostra a foto abaixo.

The result of this cut should be exactly 90 degrees when the 2 pieces of cardboard are placed as shown in the picture below.

Um erro muito comum é inclinar o estilete na hora do corte então quando tentamos fazer a figura da foto acima, não conseguimos, o corte está em forma de cinzel, enviesado, errado. Mas muitas pessoas não se dão conta desse erro e prosseguem no trabalho.....

 A very common mistake is to tilt the stylus at the time of cutting so when we try to make the picture  above, we fail, the cut is chisel-shaped, skewed, wrong. But many people do not realize this error and get going .....
