Semana passada mostrei como fazer uma cola tipo Modge Podge, no fogão, com materiais que usamos na culinária (foto abaixo), se você não viu o post, é este aqui: https://bit.ly/2UEHFNf .

Mas, atendendo ao pedido da Fabíola, que é uma seguidora do Estúdio Brigit no YouTube, hoje vou mostrar como fazer uma cola tipo Modge Podge mas com materiais industrializados, mais rápida de fazer e ótima pra fazer decoupage e até pra impermeabilizar papéis.

Last week I showed how to make a Modge Podge glue, on the stove, with materials we use in cooking (photo below), if you did not see the post, it's here: https://bit.ly/2UEHFNf.

But, following the request of Fabíola, who is a follower of the Estúdio Brigit's channel  on YouTube, today I will show you how to make a Modge Podge glue but with industrialized materials, faster to make and great for decoupage and even waterproofing papers.

Os ingredientes também são fáceis de achar: cola forte, água filtrada e verniz acrílico.  



Quando passamos cola em cima de alguma arte vemos que ela tem brilho, o resultado fica um pouco "plastificado" e é muito difícil tirar esse acabamento brilhoso mas podemos suaviza-lo usando Verniz Acrílico Fosco na mistura; o brilho não sai todos, o resultado não é uma cola fosca, mas suaviza um pouco. 

Se não há a preocupação com o brilho ou se, pelo contrário, queremos manter e até aumentar um pouco mais o brilho no resultado, usamos Verniz Acrílico brilhoso na mistura. 



O Verniz Acrílico é o escolhido porque é á base de água, então outros vernizes que não sejam solúveis em água não funcionam, deixam a mistura pegajosa.

The ingredients are also easy to find: strong glue, filtered water and acrylic varnish.

When we glue over some art we see that it has a gloss, the result is a little "plasticized" and it is quite difficult to take off that glossy finish but we can soften it by using Matte Acrylic Varnish in the mixture; the brightness does not come out all, the result is not a matte glue, but softens a bit.

If there is no concern with the brightness or if, on the contrary, we want to keep and even increase the brightness a little more in the result, we use Glossy Acrylic Varnish in the mix.

Acrylic Varnish is the chosen one because it is water based, so other varnishes that are not water soluble do not work, they leave the mixture sticky.

Vamos á mistura: 

Em um pote de plástico (ou vidro) com tampa, coloque uma xícara de chá de cola forte, não muito cheia, adicione 1/2 xícara de chá de água (não muito cheia também) e misture bem.

Em seguida, adicione 2 colheres de sopa do Verniz Acrílico e mexa com calma. Quando sentir que a  mistura  engrossou um pouco, estará pronta.

Let's mix it up:

In a plastic (or glass) pot with lid, put one cup (not too full) of strong glue , add 1/2 cup of water (not too full) and mix well.

Then add 2 tablespoons of Acrylic Varnish and stir gently. When you feel the mixture has thicken a bit, it is ready.

Se quiser que a cola fique mais grossa deixe-a um pouco destampada e vá mexendo até engrossar.

Dura cerca de uns 2 anos quando guardada sempre fechada e em local livre do sol. Se em algum momento ela ficar grossa demais, devido ao fato de ficar destampada quando está sendo usada, acrescente um pouco de verniz.

If you want a thicker glue, leave it slightly uncovered and stir until it thickens.

It lasts about 2 years when kept always closed and in a place free from the sun. If at any point it becomes too thick, due to the fact that it is uncovered when it is being used, just add a little varnish.

Essa é o tipo de cola pra quem faz muita arte e precisa economizar pois com 1 litro de cola forte conseguimos fazer cerca de 2,5 litros de mistura, além disso tem um bom tempo de validade e cola muito bem.

This is the type of glue for those who make a lot of art and need to save some money  because with 1 liter of strong glue we can make about 2.5 liters of mixture and glues very well.

COMO FAZER MODGE PODGE (DIY Modge Podge) - VÍDEO

Como fazer Modge Podge? 

Sabe aquela cola que todo mundo gosta mas que pra nós brasileiros é um pouquinho salgada no preço? Pois é, vamos ver como fazer uma bastante parecida usando ingredientes que você tem na sua cozinha!

Se funciona? Muito! Serve para Decoupage? Sim!

Mas ATENÇÃO: no vídeo eu digo que pode-se retirar o óleo da receita mas NÃO RETIRE, porque além de dar um pouco de brilho á massa ele também serve para evitar que a massa endureça na geladeira.

Essa massa, ou cola, depois de pronta tem uma consistência tipo geléia ou mingau grossinho mesmo quando conservada dentro da geladeira, e é uma massa linda: lisinha, não tem cheiro, não faz mal se por acaso algum animal ou até alguma criança colocar na boca e além de tudo isso tem um forte poder adesivo graças ao açúcar.

Então junte os ingredientes, faça exatamente como eu fiz no vídeo e você terá um belo pote de cola tipo Modge Podge, vem fazer!

How to make Modge Podge?
You know that glue that everyone likes, but it's a little salty in price for us Brazilians? Well, let's see how to make a pretty similar using ingredients you have in your kitchen!
Does it work? Absolutely! May we use it for Decoupage? Yes!
But pay ATTENTION: in the video I say that you can remove the oil from the recipe but DO NOT REMOVE it, because besides giving a little shine to the mass it also serves to prevent the dough from hardening in the refrigerator.
This dough, or glue, when ready has a jelly-like consistency or thick porridge consistency even when preserved inside the refrigerator, and it is a beautiful smoothy mass, smelless, it does not hurt if by chance some animal or even some child put it in the mouth and beyond all this it has a strong adhesive power thanks to the sugar.

So gather the ingredients, do exactly as I did in the video and you'll have a nice pot of Modge Podge glue, let's get started!

Primeiro peneire uma xícara de farinha de trigo branca e uma xícara de açúcar branco, coloque esses dois ingredientes em uma panela e misture com um batedor de arame.



Ligue o fogo no mínimo e adicione 3 xícaras de água lentamente mexendo sempre sem parar para que a mistura não empelote. Se empelotar dissolva as bolinhas com a ajuda de uma colher. Misture sempre sem parar e com o fogo bem baixo pois a mistura não pode ferver!

First sift a cup of white wheat flour and a cup of white sugar, place these two ingredients in a pan and mix with a wire whisk.

Turn on the low heat  and add 3 cups of water slowly stirring constantly without stopping so the mixture does not embark. If it does, dissolve the balls with the aid of a spoon. Mix constantly without stopping and on the very low heat  because the mixture can not boil!

Quando começar a engrossar, retire a mistura do fogo e adicione uma colher de sopa de vinagre e uma colher de sopa de óleo (óleo de culinária), mexendo sempre. Volte a panela ao fogo baixo e mexa até virar um mingau macio e pronto: a cola está pronta!

Tudo isso demora cerca de 15 a 20 minutos, dependendo do fogão.

Espere a cola secar dentro da panela e coloque em vidro esterilizado e com tampa.

 When it starts to thicken, remove the mixture from the heat and add a tablespoon of vinegar and a tablespoon of cooking oil, always stirring. Return the pan to the low heat and stir until it turns into a soft and ready porridge: the glue is ready!

All this takes about 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the stove.

Wait for the glue to dry inside the pan and place it in a sterilized glass and with lid.

O açúcar serve para dar mais adesão á cola, o vinagre serve para ajudar a evitar fungos e mofo, o óleo serve para dar um pouco de brilho e manter a cola macia mesmo dentro da geladeira, sim, porque ela deve ficar sempre na geladeira. Quando for preciso usa-la, é só retirar da geladeira, usar normalmente e voltar a guarda-la na geladeira.

Essa cola tem validade de cerca de um mês a partir da fabricação, pode ser um pouco mais ou até um pouco menos e se em algum momento ela ficar líquida, ou com pontos de mofo, ou com mau cheiro, deve ser descartada.

 The sugar  gives more adhesion to the glue, the vinegar helps prevent fungus and mold, the oil gives a little shine and keep the glue soft even inside the refrigerator, yes, because it should always stay in the refrigerator. When you need to use it, just remove it from the refrigerator, use it normally and put it back in the refrigerator.

This glue has a validity of about one month from the manufacturing, it can be a little more or even a little less and if at any time it becomes liquid, or with mildew, or smelly, it should be discarded.

Esta é uma cola de secagem um pouco lenta em relação a colas industriais e em relação á própria cola Modge Podge, mas após secagem suas características são muito parecidas e seu poder de adesão é bem forte. Pode ser usada para colagem de papéis em papéis e em Decoupage também, aliás, o rótulo com o nome e a validade que aparece nas fotos foi colado com a cola recém preparada e a adesão está excelente!

 This is a slow drying glue in relation to industrial glues and in relation to the Modge Podge glue itself, but after drying its characteristics are very similar and its adhesion power is very strong. It can be used for paper bonding and also in Decoupage, the label with the name and validity that appears in the photos was glued with the newly prepared glue and the adhesion is excellent!

Faça a cola com os ingredientes descritos acima, não troque os ingredientes por outros e não mude a ordem de colocação deles na panela. Mexa sempre com o batedor e sempre em fogo mínimo, e você terá uma cola maravilhosa!!

Make the glue with the ingredients described above, do not change the ingredients for others and do not change the order of placement of them in the pan. Always stir with the wire whisk and always on minimum heat, and you will have a wonderful glue !!

DISCO CROMÁTICO #4: Combinação de Cores (CHROMATIC DISC # 4: Color Matching)

Combinação de Cores! 



Esse é um assunto que sempre nos deixa com um ponto de interrogação na mente porque as dúvidas são muitas. Mas com a ajuda do Disco Cromático (ou Círculo Cromático) podemos entender melhor como as cores se comportam quando combinadas, e esse entendimento pode nos levar a uma melhoria enorme na hora de pintar, de escolher nossas roupas, as cores da nossa casa, do nosso trabalho.....porque é preciso harmonizar os pigmentos de forma que nos tragam paz, energia, serenidade, força, etc...



 Muitas cores quando combinadas nos trazem sentimentos bons, mas outras podem nos influenciar de forma catastrófica! 



Há uma parte dos artistas que separam Cores Frias (que trazem sensação de calma e paz) e Cores Quentes (que trazem sensação de calor e de ação) da seguinte forma:

Azuis, verdes e uma parte de violetas e uma parte de amarelos como sendo cores frias e outra parte de amarelos, laranjas, vermelhos como sendo cores quentes.



Eu faço parte da turma que discorda.



E o motivo é simples: quando olhamos o Disco Cromático cru, com as Cores Primárias, Secundárias e terciárias bem definidas até que pode-se aceitar Cores Quentes e Frias. Mas quando expandimos nosso Disco, ou seja, quando expandimos as cores em centenas de matizes, quando tiramos os limites de onde começa uma e acaba a outra,  podemos ter vermelhos quentes e vermelhos frios, amarelos frios e quentes, etc....



Também podemos, através da técnica da Veladura, esquentar uma cor fria e esfriar uma cor quente, portanto separar cores atribuindo-lhes o rótulo fixo de frias ou quentes não funciona. 



Por exemplo, é dito que roxo é uma cor fria mas se esse roxo tiver mais parte vermelha do que azul ele "esquentará". De maneira inversa, se esse roxo tiver mais azul do que vermelho, ele será uma cor fria.



Nas fotos abaixo vemos alguns estudos de como as cores se comportam quando estão uma ao lado das outras. Muitas vezes uma cor faz com que sua vizinha seja mais perceptível, mais vibrante. Ou o contrário.



Color combination!

This is a subject that always leaves us with a question mark in the mind because the doubts are many. But with the help of the Chromatic Disc (or Chromatic Circle) we can better understand how colors behave when combined, and this understanding can lead to a huge improvement in painting, choosing our clothes, the colors of our home, our work ..... because it is necessary to harmonize the pigments in a way that brings us peace, energy, serenity, strength, etc ...

Many colors when combined bring us good feelings, but others can influence us in a catastrophic way!

There are a number of artists that separate Cold Colors (which bring a sense of calm and peace) and Warm Colors (which bring a sense of warmth and action) as follows:

Blues, greens and a part of violets and a part of yellows as being cold colors and another part of yellows, oranges, reds as being warm colors.

I am part of the class that disagrees.

And the reason is simple: when you look at the raw Chromatic Disc, with the Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Colors, they are well defined and we can accept Hot and Cold Colors. But when we expand our disc, that is, when we expand colors in hundreds of hues, when we remove the boundaries from where one begins and ends the other, we can have warm reds and hot reds, hot and cold yellows etc ...

We can also, through the technique of Velatura, heat a cold color and cool a warm color, so separating colors by assigning them the fixed label of cold or hot does not work for me.

For example, it is said that purple is a cold color but if that purple has more red part than blue it will "warm up". On the other hand, if this purple has more blue than red, it will be a cool color.

In the photos below we see some studies of how colors behave when they are next to each other. Often a color makes its neighbor more noticeable, more vibrant. Or the other way around.

Quando combinamos Cores Neutras temos uma Harmonia Acromática. 

Marrom é uma cor neutra, preto e branco são tecnicamente cores neutras que ficam ótimas ao lado de qualquer cor. Experimente! 

Combine a cor preta com todas as cores que você tiver e veja o resultado; faça isso também com a cor branca e marrom. Observe o efeito dessas cores quando postas lado a lado.

When we combine Neutral Colors we have an Achromatic Harmony.

Brown is a neutral color, black and white are technically neutral colors that look great next to any color. 

Try this:

Combine the color black with all the colors you have and see the result; do this also with the colors white and brown. Notice the effect of these colors when placed side by side.

O marrom é mais suave do que o preto, com certeza, e muito usado para delinear desenhos e dar um tom "terroso" ás pinturas.

Marrons alaranjados, avermelhados e amarelados formam misturas muito interessantes mas tente também colocar marrom ao lado de azuis, verdes e outros tons de laranja, amarelo e vermelho.



O melhor aprendizado é quando você pega o pincel e as tintas e estuda as combinações de cores!

Brown is softer than black, for sure, and much used to outline drawings and give a "earthy" tone to the paintings.

Orange, red, and yellowish browns form very interesting blends but try also to put brown next to blues, greens and other shades of orange, yellow and red.

The best learning is when you take the paintbrush and paint and study the color combinations!

Observe nas fotos como a cor preta e os dois tons de marrom modificam nossa percepção quando colocamos as mesmas cores ao seu redor. Algumas cores obtém mais realce enquanto outras ficam em segundo plano.



Notice in the photos how  black and the two shades of brown change our perception when we put the same colors around them. Some colors get more enhancement while others get in the background.
