ATC #2: THE TREE OF LOVE - VÍDEO

Hoje é o segundo vídeo de ATC onde eu mostro um cartão simples, com um doodle de árvore pintado com aquarela.

Today is the second video of ATC where I show a simple card, with a tree doodle, painted with watercolor.

The ATC can be simple, they can be with collages, they can be super, the important thing is to make art, to discover new techniques and apply them in the cards, and to exchange, to meet people of the whole world!

Gosto de deixar os cartões pré cortados; uso papel offset branco, 120g/m².

 I like to leave the cards pre-cut; I use white offset paper, 120g / m².

E como tenho uma admiração bem grande por árvores, meu desenho de hoje será uma árvore, desenhada apenas com linhas, bem simples. 

Uso o marcador permanente preto Nº4 da Mitsubishi.

And since I have a great admiration for trees, my drawing today will be a tree, drawn with only simple lines.

I use Mitsubishi's black permanent marker # 4.

Toda a pintura é feita com aquarela, nas cores: 

All the painting is done with watercolor, in the colors:

- Olive Green;

- Leaf Green;

- Dioxazine Purple:

- Quinacridone Rose;

- Yellow;

- Permanent Red Medium.

 O pincel é o médio da Marca Derwent mas acredito que o meu esteja com defeito, vazando água.

 The brush is the medium size of the Derwent Mark but I believe mine is defective, leaking water.

Me preocupo em deixar partes brancas na árvore, assim minha pintura ficará suave.

I worry about leaving white parts in the tree, so my painting will be smooth.

Com o marcador permanente, reforço alguns contornos. Usei caneta Gel Sakura vermelha para pequenos pontos aleatórios.

The permanent marker reinforces some outlines. I used Sakura Red Gel pen for small random points.

E tenho 2 ATC com uma única pintura!

 And now I have 2 ATC's with a single painting!

Agora vamos ao nome ou frase no cartão: pinto uma tira de papel com azul.

Now let's go to the name or phrase on the card: I paint a strip of paper with blue.

  

Recorto as beiradas, em forma de V.

 I cut the eaves in the shape of V.

Coloco minha frase de efeito, que no caso é "The Tree of Love", e colo no cartão.

I write my action phrase, which in this case is "The Tree of Love", and I glue it on the card.

Como a lateral era branca, passei um pouco de azul em toda a volta.

As the side was white, I turned a little blue all the way around.

E voilà! Dois cartões ATC prontos para trocar!

And voila! Two ATC cards ready for trading!

Depois que escolho o desenho uso uma folha de papel para apoiar o braço e a mão porque o corpo humano possui óleos naturais que, em contacto direto, podem manchar minh pintura.

After  choosing the design I use a sheet of paper to support the arm and hand because the human body has natural oils that, in direct contact, can stain my painting.

Em seguida, defino o motivo principal da minha pintura, que neste caso, é o pássaro. Acredito que seja um pavão u uma ave do paraíso.

Then I define the main motif of my painting, which in this case is the bird. I believe it to be a peacock and a bird of paradise.

Como vou pintar com a mão direita, começo a pintura na parte esquerda de cima. Gosto de pintar por pequenas partes e de forma coordenada. 

As I paint with my right hand, I start the painting on the left side of the top. I like to paint in small parts and in a coordinated way.

Escolhi este pequeno pedaço para o exemplo de pintura e observo seus detalhes e como está posicionado em relação ás outras partes do desenho em volta.

I chose this little piece for the painting as an example so I look at its details and how it is positioned in relation to the other parts of the drawing around.

Em relação ao desenho inteiro, defini previamente que meu ponto de luz está à esquerda do livro, então quanto mais afastadas desse ponto forem as figuras, mais claras serão.

In relation to the whole drawing, I have previously defined that my light point is to the left of the book, so the further away from that point the figures are, the clearer they will be.

                                      

 Da mesma forma, observo a posição das partes do desenho: qual parte está por cima, qual parte está por baixo, o que está na sombra e o que está na luz.

In the same way, I observe the position of the parts of the drawing: which part is above, which part is below, what is in the shadow and what is in the light.

Usei azuis e seus tons mais escuros para fazer o sombreamento. Poderia ter usado um pouco de cinza com azul ou até a cor complementar como fundo para ajudar a sombrear, mas neste desenho faço um exercício apenas com cores e seus tons.

I used blues and their darker shades to make the shading. I could have used a little gray with blue or even the complementary color as background to help shade, but in this drawing I do an exercise with only colors and their tones.

Aplico lápis branco nas partes claras ou que não quero colocar cor, e ele também me ajuda a isolar um pouco as outras cores, para o caso de esquecer que quero manter uma parte branca.

I apply white pencils on the light parts or on the parts I do not want to color, and it also helps me to isolate the other colors a bit, in case I forget I want to keep a white part.

Quando ultrapasso a linha preta de desenho coloco uma cor parecida na área ultrapassada, e o que parecia estar errado fica certo.

When I go past the black drawing line I put a similar color in the outdated area, and what seems to be wrong becomes  right.

Também tomo especial cuidado em pintar bem rente á linha preta, cobrir bem o branco do papel.

 I also take special care in painting close to the black line, covering the white of the paper well.

De vez em quando é preciso nos afastarmos da pintura, cerca de 80cm, 1 metro, para termos uma visualização ampla das cores.

From time to time we must move away from the painting, about 80cm, 1 meter, in order to have an ample visualization of the colors.

O uso do blender ou do lápis branco como blender, em pedaços pequenos, é opcional porque normalmente a gradação de cores feita numa área pequena é tão boa, que não há necessidade do uso desses lápis.

The use of blender or white pencil as a blender in small pieces is optional because normally the gradation of colors made in a small area is so good that there is no need to use these pencils.

CORTADOR CANTONEIRA #2: Cortando Círculos (CORNER CUTTER # 2: Cutting Circles) - VÍDEO

No post anterior vimos como usar um cortador cantoneira para fazer cortes retos, além dos cantos. Mas e se pudéssemos também usa-lo para cortar círculos?

Sim, podemos!

In the previous post we saw how to use a corner cutter to make straight cuts, besides the corners. But what if we could also use it to cut circles?

Yes, we can!

Precisamos retirar a parte de baixo do cortador para podermos ver o corte que vamos fazer. E precisamos de um círculo; podemos usar compasso para faze-lo ou usar objetos em forma de círculo, até tampas de panelas são boas para isso: é só coloca-las em cima do papel, marcar em toda a volta com um lápis e cortar.

We need to remove the underside of the cutter so we can see the cut we are going to make. And we need a circle; we can use compass to do it or use objects in the form of a circle, even pot lids are good for this: just put them on paper, mark all the way around with a pencil and cut.

Depois que temos um círculo de papel, usamos o cortador para fazer o primeiro corte e a partir desse primeiro corte precisamos dobrar o papel, fazendo um triângulo em volta do corte.

After we have a circle of paper, we use the corner cutter to make the first cut and from that first cut we need to fold the paper, making a triangle around the cut.

A partir desse triângulo, vamos dobrando o círculo fazendo novos triângulos. O círculo de papel deve ser dobrado perfeitamente, alinhando sempre as bordas.

From this triangle, we bend the circle by making new triangles. The paper circle should be folded perfectly, always aligning the edges.

Todas as linhas de dobra obrigatoriamente passam pelo centro do círculo, só assim a dobra estará correta.

All fold lines must pass through the center of the circle, only then the fold will be correct.

Quando não for mais possível dobrar, teremos um cone, amassado.

When it is no longer possible to fold, we will have a cone, kneaded.

E quando abrimos esse cone vemos o círculo perfeitamente marcado, como se fossem fatias de uma pizza.

And when we open this cone we see the circle perfectly marked, as if they were slices of a pizza.

Com cuidado posicionamos o cortador em cada um desses triângulos formados pelas dobras e cortamos.

Carefully place the corner cutter in each of these triangles formed by the folds and cut.

E assim vamos vendo nosso círculo cortado aparecendo.

And so we see our cropped circle appearing.

Cortamos o excesso de papel ou qualquer pequena parte, apenas para acertar melhor o corte.

We cut the excess paper or any small part just to get the cut right.

Quando temos círculos pequenos, caberão poucos cortes. Então quanto maior o círculo, mais cortes caberão.

When we have small circles, there will be few cuts. So the larger the circle, the more cuts will fit.

Quando escolhemos um círculo precisamos escrever nele a medida do diâmetro, e esse círculo serve como molde de qualquer um que precisemos cortar com o mesmo diâmetro.

Não podemos fazer as dobras sempre que precisarmos cortar um círculo porque não podemos marcar o papel, depois não haverá como desmarca-lo. Então fazemos antes vários moldes de círculos, com as medidas dos diâmetros, e guardamos para quando precisarmos "consultar" nossas experiências com círculos. 

When we choose a circle, we need to write the diameter, and this circle serves as the template for any other that we need to cut with the same diameter.

We can not do the folds whenever we need to cut a circle because we can not mark the paper as there is no way to unmark it. So we make several circle molds with diameters measurements, and we save them for when we need to "consult" our experiments with circles.

A princípio pode parecer difícil acertar o procedimento, mas com o tempo não precisaremos mais de moldes e nem de medidas porque conseguiremos fazer os cortes em qualquer tamanho de círculo, tudo dependerá apenas da nossa experiência.

At first it may seem difficult to agree on the procedure, but in time we will no longer need molds or measures because we will be able to make cuts in any size of circle, it will all depend on our experience.
