Guilhotina ou #refiladoradepapel?

Qual delas usar e quais as diferenças entre as duas?
Será que existem diferenças ou é uma questão de preferência?

Neste vídeo também vou mostrar por que algumas vezes nossas medidas, depois de cortar um papel, apresentam diferença de 1mm a mais ou a menos e como tentar resolver esse problema.
Quem faz ATC sabe do que estou falando, né?

Guillotine or #papertrimmer? Which one to use and what are the differences between both?

Are there differences or is it a matter of preference?

In this video I will also show you why sometimes our measurements, after cutting a paper, have a difference of 1mm and how to solve this problem.

Who does ATC know what I'm talking about, don't you?

Tanto a guilhotina quanto a refiladora são usadas para cortar papel: com a guilhotina (foto acima) podemos cortar uma quantidade maior de papel de cada vez, e com a refiladora cortamos menos, talvez umas 3 folhas de papel de cada vez, dependendo da gramatura. 

A refiladora usa pequenas lâminas, facilmente substituíveis e à venda em papelarias e online enquanto que a guilhotina usa uma lâmina grande, como se fosse uma faca, e de tempos em tempos é preciso leva-la para amolar por alguém que saiba amolar tesouras, facas, etc..

Both the guillotine and the trimmer are used to cut paper: with the guillotine (photo above) we can cut a larger amount of paper at a time, and with the trimmer we cut less, maybe 3 sheets of paper at a time, depending on the weight .

The trimmer uses small, easily replaceable blades for sale at stationers and online stores while the guillotine uses a large blade, as if it were a knife, and from time to time it is necessary to take it to grind by someone who knows how to grind scissors, knives , etc..

Eu uso a Refiladora de Papel Maped, que é uma marca francesa, porque é prática, leve, e tem um ótimo tamanho: posso refilar uma folha de papel scrap que normalmente mede 31cm; a folha cabe perfeitamente na refiladora.

I use the Maped Paper Trimmer, which is a French brand, because it is practical, light, and has a good size: I can refile a sheet of scrap paper that normally measures 31cm; the sheet fits perfectly in the trimmer.

A lâmina está bem protegida por uma capa e isso nos dá proteção na hora de manusear essa ferramenta.

É muito fácil trocar a lâmina: basta puxar suavemente a capa protetora para cima, substituir a lâmina e recolocar a capa com uma pequena pressão.

The blade is well protected by a cover and this gives us protection while handling this tool.

It is very easy to change the blade: simply pull the protective cover up gently, replace the blade and replace the cover with a small pressure.

Essa lâmina tem 2 lados, ou seja, ela corta de 2 lados, então podemos posicionar o papel tanto na parte de cima quanto na parte de baixo da refiladora e cortar.

Eu tenho o hábito de usar os 2 lados, mas existem pessoas que preferem cortar apenas de cima pra baixo, ou seja, usam apenas um lado da lâmina. Então, quando esse lado fica cego o ideal é que virem a lâmina ao contrário pra aproveitar o outro lado dela mas algumas pessoas esquecem desse detalhe e simplesmente jogam a lâmina fora.

This blade has 2 sides, so we can position the paper in both the top and bottom of the trimmer and cut.



I have a habit of using the 2 sides, but there are people who prefer to cut only from top to bottom, that is, use only one side of the blade. So when this side goes blind the ideal is that they place the blade upside down to take advantage of the other side of it but some people forget about this detail and simply throw the blade away.

Há também um pequeno compartimento para guardar lâminas extras. O meu, infelizmente está vazio, preciso comprar algumas!

There is also a small compartment for storing extra blades. Mine, unfortunately is empty, I need to buy some!

Essas lâminas são vendidas em pacotes com 2 unidades, e só servem da própria marca Maped.

These Maped blades are sold in packages with 2 units.

Essa refiladora também possui réguas na parte de cima e na parte de baixo, além de uma régua na parte da frente onde prendemos o papel.

This trimmer also has rulers at the top and bottom, plus a ruler at the front where we fasten the paper.

Essa régua na parte de cima também serve como uma segurança extra, mantendo nossas mãos e dedos a salvo.

Quando o papel é realmente comprido podemos alongar a parte de cima da refiladora, que possui uma régua acoplada à ferramenta e que pode ser extendida até 31cm. Ou seja, internamente essa refiladora tem o tamanho exato de uma folha quadrada de scrap, com 31cm.

This ruler at the top also serves as extra security, keeping our hands and fingers safe.

When the paper is really long we can lengthen the top of the trimmer, which has a ruler attached to the tool and can be extended up to 31cm. That is, internally this trimmer has the exact size of a square scrap sheet, 31cm.

A refiladora tem uma função a mais: pode servir como vincadora também!



O local, a reta, por onde a lâmina passa serve como guia para quando precisamos vincar um papel. Basta posicionar o papel na medida certa, deixar a lâmina na parte de cima ou na parte de baixo d refiladora,  e usar uma dobradeira ou espátula para fazer o vinco.

The trimmer has one more function: it can serve as a creasing tool as well!

The place, the straight, where the blade passes serves as a guide for when we need to crease a paper. Simply position the paper in the right way, leave the blade on the top or the bottom of the trimmer, and use a folder or spatula to crease.

O vinco é perfeito e assim temos duas ferramentas em uma: refiladora e vincadora!

The crease is perfect and so we have two tools in one: trimmer and creaser!

Hoje vamos ver mais uma Técnica Básica que podemos usar na pintura com Lápis de Cor.

Vale lembrar que desde o início deste "mini curso" optei por lápis escolares, baratos, que encontramos em qualquer papelaria porque o objetivo é mostrar que mesmo com materiais simples, se soubermos algumas técnicas, podemos ter um ótimo resultado.

Today we are going to see another Basic Technique that we can use in painting with Colored Pencils.

It is worth remembering that since the beginning of this "mini course" I opted for cheap school pencils that we find in any stationery because the goal is to show that even with simple materials, if we know some techniques, we can have a great result.

Quando começamos a colorir um papel, precisamos fazer camadas e camadas de cor para preencher por completo o branco do papel. Mesmo assim, é preciso cuidado para não saturar o papel tornando impossível o acréscimo de mais camadas em algum momento - que é quando nosso lápis começa a "patinar" sobre a camada.

When we start coloring a paper, we need to make layers and layers of color to completely fill the blank of the paper. Even so, care must be taken not to saturate the paper making it impossible to add more layers at some point - that is when our pencil begins to "skate" over the layer.

Claro que posso poupar tempo simplesmente pressionando o lápis, com alguma força, e assim obtendo o efeito desejado rapidamente.

Mas, nesse caso, dependendo da força exercida, pode acontecer de saturarmos o papel e quando quisermos acrescentar mais uma camada o lápis patina do mesmo jeito.

 Of course we can save time simply by pressing the pencil with some force, and thus getting the desired effect quickly.

But in this case, depending on the force exerted, it can happen that we saturate the paper and when we want to add another layer the pencil skates in the same way.

Ou seja, a construção de camadas de cores nos dá mais opções porque podemos regular o tom e também misturar outra cor completamente diferente.

That is, building layers of color gives us more options because we can regulate the tone and also mix another completely different color.

Mesmo assim, ainda vemos pequenas partes brancas (que é o fundo do papel) por mais que tenhamos feito várias camadas de cor.

 Even so, we still see small white parts (which is the bottom of the paper) even though we have made several layers of color.

Vamos usar nosso livro de colorir para entender como evitar esse problema e obter uma pintura com um fundo completamente coberto por cor. 

Vamos usar a mesma figura do vídeo anterior e vamos escolher este vaso enorme á direita na página,  e nessa figura sabemos que nosso ponto de luz está do lado direto da página então temos que reservar uma parte branca do lado direito do vaso mostrando onde  a luz incide sobre ele.

Let's use our coloring book to understand how to avoid this problem and get a painting with a background completely covered by color.

Let's use the same figure from the previous video and  choose this huge vase to the right on the page, and in this figure we know that our point of light is on the right side of the page so we have to reserve a white part on the right side of the vase showing where the light focuses on it.

 O vaso será azul, então com Lápis Aquarela azul pinto todo o vaso deixando apenas a parte branca da incidência da luz. 

The vase is going to be painted in blue, so with a Blue Watercolor Pencil I paint the entire vase leaving only the white part of the light's incidence.

Antes de aplicar pincel com água eu coloquei um plástico por baixo da folha para proteger as demais folhas do livro, e apliquei o pincel tentando obter uma pintura uniforme.

Podemos usar aquarela em pastilhas ou qualquer outra aquarela mas estou usando o lápis aquarela apenas como exemplo.

Before applying a brush with water I put a plastic sheet under the page to protect the other sheets of the book, and applied the brush trying to get a uniform paint.

We can use watercolor on tablets or any other watercolor but I am using the watercolor pencil just as an example.

Vamos analisar melhor  o que acontece com as fibras do papel:

as fibras são entrelaçadas na vertical e na horizontal (faça um entrelaçamento com seus dedos para entender melhor) produzindo partes altas (morros) e partes baixas (vales); 

Let's take a closer look at what happens with paper fibers:

the fibers are intertwined vertically and horizontally (make an interlacing with your fingers to understand better) producing high parts (hills) and low parts (valleys);

Quando fazemos camadas de cor, suavemente, estamos pintando as partes altas mas as partes baixas continuam sem cor, ou com o branco do papel pois o lápis passado suavemente não atinge a parte mais baixa.

When we make layers of color, softly, we are painting the high parts but the low parts remain colorless, or with the white of the paper because the pencil (passed smoothly) does not reach the lower parts.

Essa parte baixa, ou branco do papel, é o que aparece como fundo de camada por mais que passemos o lápis lá estão as partes brancas do papel.

 These low parts, or white parts of the paper, are what appear as a layer background no matter how far we pass the pencil there are always the white parts of the paper.

Quando passamos mais e mais camadas ou até quando exercemos um pouco mais de força, o papel vai sendo pressionado, vai ficando achatado, e assim conseguimos pintar o fundo mas corremos o risco de saturar o papel.

 When we pass more and more layers or even when we exert a little more force, the paper is pressed, becomes flattened, and thus we can paint the bottom but we run the risk of saturating the paper.

Quando exercemos força logo no começo da pintura rapidamente achatamos o papel e preenchemos com cor o fundo, também saturando o papel.

When we exert force at the very beginning of the painting we quickly flatten the paper and fill the background with color, also saturating the paper.

Voltando ao exemplo do nosso livro, depois que a pintura com aquarela estiver seca podemos pintar com lápis comum do jeito que quisermos, usando as várias técnicas que vimos ao longo dos 7 vídeos anteriores.

O fundo estará todo preenchido com a tinta aquarela, o papel não estará saturado porque não foi pressionado, e ficará bem mais fácil conseguir belos efeitos uma vez que o branco do papel foi tingido completamente com a aquarela azul.

Going back to the example in our book, after the watercolor painting is dry we can paint with ordinary pencil the way we want, using the various techniques we have seen over the previous 7 videos.

The background will be all filled with watercolor paint, the paper will not be saturated because it has not been pressed, and it will be much easier to achieve beautiful effects once the white of the paper has been dyed completely with the blue watercolor.

Podemos até usar uma borracha maleável para marcar melhor o ponto de luz.

 We can even use a soft rubber to better mark the spot of light.

E usar o Lápis de Cor branco ou o  Lápis Blender para produzir efeitos. A pintura é feita de forma normal, com a vantagem de já termos o fundo do vaso completamente tingido de azul.

And use the White Pencil or the Blender Pencil to produce effects. The painting is done in a normal way, with the advantage that we already have the bottom of the pot completely blue dyed.

Esse é mais um dos truque, mais uma técnica que podemos usar e a que mais gosto!

This is one more trick, one more technique that we can use and the one I like the most!

ATC #5: STOP & ENJOY - VÍDEO

Desta vez fiz ATCs de engrenagens e metalizados com dourado, com o nome Stop & Enjoy que nos lembram que ás vezes é preciso parar um pouco a correria da vida e apreciar os bons momentos. E fazer arte também!

This time I made ATCs of gears and metallized them with gold,  named Stop & Enjoy that remind us that sometimes it is necessary to stop the rush of life a little  and enjoy the good times!

Começo usando a Sizzix para cortar engrenagens em papel craft.

I start by using Sizzix to cut gears on craft paper.

Meus ATCs já estão cortados na medida certa então tenho que colar as engrenagens em cada um deles.

My ATCs are now  cut to the right size so I have to glue the gears on each of them.

Mas, como tenho que fazer pelo menos 10 ATC juntei os cartões e vou colar aleatoriamente as engrenagens ligando todos eles, assim todos os ATC ficarão diferentes.

But as I have to do at least 10 ATCs,  I put the cards together and randomly glue the gears on all of them, so all the ATCs will look different.

Sobreponho as engrenagens, e algumas são coladas em mais de um cartão.

I overlap the gears, and some are glued to more than one card.

Agora um pouco de cor: com  tinta acrílica verde e azul, metalizadas, em spray, vou pintar todos os cartões.

Now we need color: with green and blue metallic acrylic paint sprays, I  paint all the cards.

Com a caneta Distress Walnut Stain, faço sombreados bem perto das engrenagens, espalhando com os dedos úmidos.

With the Distress Walnut Stain pen, I make shadows close to the gears, spreading them with wet fingers.

Agora um pouco de dourado! Vou usar uma pasta metálica que pode ser espalhada com os dedos, mas apenas em alguns detalhes de cada cartão.

Now a little gold! I use a metal paste that can be spread with my fingers, but only in some details of each card.

E como gosto muito de azul, com uma pequena esponja vou aplicar um pouco de Archival Ink Aquamarine  nas laterais de cada ATC.

And as I love blue, with a little sponge I  apply some Aquamarine Archival Ink  on the sides of each ATC.

Agora falta uma frase, uma palavra alguma coisa que transmita emoção.

Now let's have something written, a word or phrase that conveys emotion.

E voilá! Vários ATC prontos de uma só vez, com o mesmo tema mas diferentes uns dos outros.
