And now the announcement:

We have new videos on Youtube on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, showing how to make some art or crafts.

However, whenever Estúdio Brigit does Book Binding Marathons the regular videos will be suspended in the week of the Marathon and also in the week before it because in the previous week we released videos from the Mini Binding Series.

In this Mini Series videos I tell a little about my experience as a handmade bookbinder in the last 12 years, and I also give tips related to Handmade Binding. These videos are spoken in Portuguese.

So, let's make some books! Come to the Marathon!

COMO FAZER FITA BANANA - DIY (HOW TO MAKE "BANANA TAPE")

Fita banana serve para dar volume, dimensão aos nossos trabalhos artísticos mas normalmente as fitas banana que usamos são brancas.....mas podemos fazer fitas banana de todas as cores!

Podem ser azuis, amarelas, verdes, vermelhas.....já pensou como ficariam lindas na aplicação de enfeites para álbuns e livros? E também para enfeites de tags, envelopes, etc.....

Como fazer?? Veja no vídeo logo abaixo!

Banana tape (as we call it in Brazil) is used to add volume, dimension to our artwork, but normally the banana tapes we use are white ..... but we can make banana tapes of all colors!
They can be blue, yellow, green,red ..... have you ever thought how beautiful they would look when applying ornaments to albums and books? And also for embellishments of tags, envelopes, etc .....
How to make them?? Watch the video below!

Precisamos de um pedaço de EVA, pode ser de qualquer cor e basicamente de qualquer espessura. O meu tem cerca de 2 milímetros.

We need a piece of EVA, it can be of any color and basically any thickness. Mine is about 2 millimeters.

Precisamos também de fita dupla face, que será colada em ambos os lados do pedaço de EVA.

Então primeiro colamos de uma lado......

We also need a double-sided tape, which will be glued to both sides of the EVA piece.

So first we stick the double-sided tape on one side ......

....usamos a dobradeira para pressionar um pouco.....

.... we use the folder to press it  a little .....

.... colamos outro pedaço de fita dupla face do outro lado do EVA.....

.... we stick another piece of double-sided tape on the other side of the EVA .....

..... e também pressionamos com a dobradeira, para melhor adesão dos materiais. 

E assim temos a nossa fita banana.

.... and we also press with the folder, for better adhesion of materials.

And so we have our banana tape.

Minha fita dupla face é larga, mas se eu precisar de fita banana estreita realmente fina, posso corta-la na largura que eu quiser.

My double-sided tape is wide, but if I need a really thin, narrow banana tape, I can cut it to the width I want.

E assim tenho um pedaço de fita banana bem estreito!

And so I have a very narrow piece of banana tape!

O poder de adesão da "recém feita" fita banana é muito bom! Bastante parecido com a fita banana verdadeira.

The adhesion power of the "freshly made" banana tape is very good! Much like the real banana tape.

As fitas bananas normalmente são brancas, mas se usarmos EVA para faze-las podemos escolher EVA de cores variadas e assim podemos ter fitas bananas de cores variadas também.

The banana tapes are usually white, but if we use EVA to make them we can choose EVA of different colors and thus we can have banana tapes of different colors as well.

I really encourage you to watch the video below because even if you do not understand Portuguese it is easy to understand the whole procedure just by watching the video images, especially if you have read the explanations above.
