MILTON HURRICANE (O FURACÃO MILTON)

Hello, everyone.

I couldn't let it go unnoticed, as if everything was normal and nothing exceptional was happening, about the passage of Hurricane Milton through Florida and the enormous possibility of catastrophes and loss of life.

The US government has issued a statement, actually an order, for people to leave the area in danger of death.

Olá, pessoal.

Não poderia deixar passar em branco, como se tudo estivesse normal e nada de excepcional acontecendo, sobre a passagem do furacão Milton pela Florida e a possibilidade enorme de catástrofes e perdas de vidas.

O governo americano emitiu um comunicado, na verdade uma ordem, pra que as pessoas deixem o local sob perigo de morte.

I get emotional writing about this situation, I'm so sorry, it's horrible, it's horrendous and I don't have the words to describe the total sadness and horror I feel at all this.

Fico emocionada ao escrever sobre essa situação, lamento muito, é horrível, horrendo, e não tenho palavras pra descever o total assombro e horror que sinto diante de tudo isso.

All I can do is pray, ask the angels, the saints, God, or whoever it is, to ease the force of this hurricane, that it weakens and becomes nothing more than a storm, that it doesn't take lives, that it doesn't cause the destruction that all the meteorologists are saying.

Só me resta rezar, pedir aos anjos, aos santos, a Deus, ou a quem quer que seja que alivie a força desse furacão, que ele enfraqueça, e não passe de uma tempestade e que não seife vidas, que não cause a destruição que todos os meteorologistas estão dizendo.

LIVROS MEDIEVAIS EM COURO (MEDIEVAL LEATHER BOOKS) - Part 1

Olá, pessoal!

Sempre relutei em usar couro legítimo, aquele que vem dos animais mesmo, em meus livros mas sempre tem uma primeira vez pra tudo (ou quase tudo), né?

Tempos atrás eu ganhei um monte de couros, e deixei guardados.

De vez em quando ia lá e limpava, voltava a guardar.

Até que, depois de anos, tomei coragem e fiz estes Livros em estilo Medieval em couro.

Fiz apenas 3 livros, sobrou couro, farei mais em algum momento lá na frente. Neste post vamos ver um desses livros.

Gostei do resultado, ficaram fofos, gostosos de pegar e de certa forma aliviei minha culpa em usar couro porque acho que dando uma utilidade a ele de certa forma fiz valer o fato de sua origem animal.

Hi guys! I've always been reluctant to use genuine leather, the kind that comes from animals, in my books, but there's always a first time for everything (or almost everything), right?

A while back I got a bunch of leathers and kept them in storage. Every now and then I clean them and put them away again. Then, after years, I plucked up the courage and made these Medieval-style leather books. I only made 3 books, there's leather left over, I'll make more at some point down the line. In this post, we'll take a look at one of those books. I like the result, they're cute, nice to hold and in a way I've relieved my guilt about using leather because I think that by giving it a use I've made the fact of its animal origin worthwhile.

Sabe porque eu dou nome aos livros que faço? Por que os torna ainda mais únicos, exclusivos, como este Livro Medieval da foto acima e das 5 fotos abaixo, que chamei de Key.

Normalmente me inspiro em algum detalhe do livro pra dar nome a ele, e neste apenas pensei em "chave" e traduzi pro inglês. Poderia ter nomeado de "Rosa dos ventos" ou de "Bússola" mas acho que Key é menos complicado pra escrever.

Do you know why I name the books I make? Because it makes them even more unique, like this Medieval Book in the photo above and the 5 photos below, which I called Key.

I'm usually inspired by some detail in the book to give it a name, and for this one I just thought of “key” and translated it into English. I could have called it “Rose of the Winds” or “Compass”, but I think Key is less complicated to write.

Vamos às especificações:

- Medidas aproximadas: 12cm de largura x 14cm de altura;

- Peso aproximado: 227 gramas;

- Miolo: 100 folhas (200 páginas) de papel offset, sem pauta, 120g/m², envelhecidas artesanalmente, corte rústico. Guardas em papel de scrapbooking, folhas carimbadas em cantoneiras, com carimbo vintage na primeira página.

- Capa macia em couro marrom revestida internamente com tecido.;

- Rosa dos Ventos, em metal vintage, aplicada como enfeite na capa;

- Costura Longstitch feita com linha resistente na cor pérola;

- Fechamento com trança marrom e chave fantasia em metal envelhecido;

- Acompanha saquinho para guardar o livro;

Let's take a look at the specifications:

- Approximate measurements: 12cm wide x 14cm high;

- Approximate weight: 227 grams;

- Core: 100 sheets (200 pages) of offset paper, unpaginated, 120g/m², aged by hand, rustic cut. Guards on scrapbooking paper, pages stamped on corners, with vintage stamp on the first page.

- Soft cover in brown leather, internally lined with fabric;

- Rose of the Winds, in vintage metal, applied as an ornament to the cover;

- Longstitch stitching with resistant pearl thread;

- Closure with brown braid and fancy key in aged metal;

- Comes with a bag for storing the book;

Este realmente foi o primeiro que fiz, gostei do resultado e fiz mais 2 que apresentarei nos próximos posts.

Não sei se continuarei a fazer mais livros em couro ou apenas usar o couro que tenho e pronto; fui vegetariana por mais de 20 anos então essa questão de animais continua sendo difícil pra mim.

Voltei a comer carne práticamente em 2023, por rigorosas ordens médicas, pois a falta de proteína animal na minha alimentação me trouxe sérios problemas de saúde.

Na verdade o problema não foi a falta de carne mas sim a alimentação errada, sem reposição de proteína, por ter simplesmente decidido ser vegetariana e não ter consultado um nutricionista que me indicasse uma dieta correta.

This was actually the first one I made, I liked the result and I made two more which I'll present in the next few posts.

I don't know if I'll continue to make more leather books or just use the leather I have and that's it; I've been a vegetarian for over 20 years so this issue of animals is still difficult for me.

I went back to eating meat practically in 2023, on strict doctor's orders, because the lack of animal protein in my diet caused me serious health problems.

In fact, the problem wasn't the lack of meat but the wrong diet, with no protein replenishment, because I had simply decided to become a vegetarian and hadn't consulted a nutritionist who could advise me on the correct diet.

LIVRO HOGWARTS (HOGWARTS BOOK)

O último livro que fiz da saga Harry Potter, aliás os dois últimos livros que também foram os primeiros, foram da casa Sonserina, e deixei uma pergunta no ar: De qual casa seria o próximo?

The last book I made on the Harry Potter saga, in fact the last two books which were also the first ones, were about Slytherin, and I left a question hanging in the air: Which house would be the next?

If you have answered Gryffindor, Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff, you were wrong!!! 😁

Seriam mais 3 livros para fazer e como fiz 2 da Sonseria, teria que fazer mais 2 de cada uma das outras casas e seria um ciclo quase sem fim de tantos livros, não podemos esquecer o fato de que sou Potterhead, então faria todos! 😕

There would be 3 more books to make and as I've made 2 of the Sonseria, I'd have to do 2 more of each of the other houses and it would be an almost endless cycle of so many books, we can't forget the fact that I'm a Potterhead, so I'd make them all! 😕

Então fiz um da Grifinória e este, sobre Hogwarts!

Este ficou lindo! A lateral do livro é toda dourada porque usei peços de folhas douradas nas dobras pra criar um efeito magnífico, realmente muito bonito.

Os dois foram vendidos assim que acabei de faze-los, foi instantâneo!

So I made one about Gryffindor and this one about Hogwarts!

This one is beautiful! The side of the book is all gold because I used gold leaf pieces on the folds to create a magnificent effect, really beautiful.

Both were sold as soon as I finished making them!

Usei folhas coloridas, com cores das 4 casas, adesivos de todos os personagens e coloquei um brasão de Hogwart na capa.

Escolhi a cor vermelha porque esse tecido é muito bonito, é um Saphir, holandês.

Confesso que quase escolhi um tecido verde....mas todos iriam dizer que Hogwarts não tem apenas a Sonserina.

O outro livro, da Grifinória, não sei onde coloquei as fotos mas se eu achar faço um post especialmente pra mostrar aqui.

I used colored sheets, with the colors of the four houses, stickers of all the characters and a Hogwart's coat of arms on the cover.

I chose the color red because this fabric is very beautiful, it's a Saphir, Dutch.

I confess that I almost chose a green fabric....but everyone would say that Hogwarts isn't just about Slytherin.

The other Gryffindor book, I don't know where I've put the photos but if I find it I'll make a post especially to show it here.
