Mais  fotos do Museu do Louvre: acima a famosa escultura da Vênus de Milo que é uma estátua da Grécia Antiga, descoberta em 1820 na ilha de Milo, é uma das estátuas antigas mais conhecidas no mundo mas sua autoria e a data em que foi feita permanecem desconhecidas.

Abaixo um dos quadros da série "Mulheres no seu toillete" do pintor francês Edgar Degas, um dos fundadores do Impressionismo. Absolutamente lindo!

Below is one of the paintings from the series "Women in their toilette" by the  French painter Edgar Degas, one of the founders of Impressionism. Absolutely beautiful!

Dia do Trabalhador (Labor Day)

Olá!



Hoje é o Dia do Trabalhador e é feriado aqui no Brasil e em Portugal também. Aliás, em muitos países o Dia do Trabalhador é comemorado hoje mas em outros a data varia de acordo com a região.



Nos Estados Unidos e Canadá, por exemplo, a data é comemorada na primeira segunda-feira de Setembro.



O Dia do Trabalho é uma homenagem a uma greve que aconteceu na cidade de Chicago (EUA) em 1886, onde milhares de trabalhadores reivindicavam a redução da jornada de trabalho de 13 para 8 horas diárias. 



Essa greve deu origem a várias outras manifestações em outras cidades e outros países até tornar-se o que é hoje: um dia de descanso!

Today is Labor Day and is a holiday here in Brazil and also in Portugal. Indeed, in many countries the Labour Day is celebrated today, but in others the date varies according to region.



In the United States and Canada, for example, the date is celebrated on the first Monday of September.



Labor Day is a tribute to a strike that happened in the city of Chicago (USA) in 1886, where thousands of workers demanded the reduction of working hours from 13 to 8 hours daily.



This strike led to several other demonstrations in other cities and other countries to become what it is today: a day of rest!
