Tour 2018 - Avisos, loja, blabla (Warnings, store and so one) - VIDEO

Olá!



As férias do estúdio terminaram e agora é......arte, arte, arte e vamos em frente!



O último vídeo de Tour que fiz do estúdio foi em 2016, em 2017 não fiz porque praticamente não houve grande modificação física nele.

Mas, para 2018 mudei algumas coisas de lugar pra facilitar a filmagem de vídeos do YouTube e tomei algumas decisões, vamos ver?



Quem acompanha o estúdio provavelmente percebeu que em 2017 quase não fiz lançamentos de livros novos, na verdade lancei apenas Sketchbooks para artistas quase no fim do ano.



Dois motivos me fizeram andar mais devagar:  são muitos anos fazendo sempre os mesmos movimentos de encadernação e com isso adquiri uma leve LER (Lesão do Esforço Repetitivo) nos pulsos e um problema nos ombros, e  alguns outros problemas de saúde também relacionados a pessoas da família. Ou seja, precisei de tempo para cuidar disso tudo, e tempo é a palavra chave pra todo o trabalho e lazer que temos.



Não há como ter tempo de fazer tudo que queremos ou que devemos, a gente tenta, mas em algum momento nos vemos obrigados a continuar mas mais devagar, ou a parar mesmo, a escolher alguma coisa e deixar de faze-la.

Eu sempre penso no Estúdio Brigit como se ele estivesse apoiado num tripé, e esse tripé é: Blog, YouTube e loja. No ano passado foi muito difícil manter esse tripé.



O Blog é a base de tudo, tudo que o estúdio já fez e produziu está registrado aqui através de postagens, além de posts de viagens. É uma fonte de consulta pra quem quiser ou precisar.

Posso escrever posts em qualquer lugar do mundo, onde eu estiver, e deixar esses posts programados para as datas que eu quiser, então consigo deixar o blog sempre atualizado.



O YouTube é como se fosse o par perfeito do blog. Todo vídeo no YouTube tem um post correspondente aqui no blog e é no YouTube que consigo ter um contato direto com os seguidores do Estúdio Brigit, mostrar minha arte, mostrar tutoriais, diy, e outros assuntos tanto referentes a arte quanto a artesanato, viagens, curiosidades.......O YouTube é muito importante.

Posso fazer vídeos onde eu quiser, em qualquer lugar do mundo, edita-los num laptop, e coloca-los no YouTube também com publicação programada.



E por fim, a loja. Fazer livros. Pois é.

Pra fazer livros preciso sempre sair para comprar material, trazer para o estúdio, fazer tudo desde a preparação do material até a produção final de cada livro. Fotografar cada livro, escrever uma descrição e colocar na loja. Quando alguém compra um livro eu tenho que estar no Rio pois  é preciso prepara-lo, fazer o pacote "mágico e lindo" do estúdio, ir até o Correio.  Preciso estar dentro do estúdio pra fazer tudo isso e não há como carregar o estúdio para qualquer lugar do mundo para fazer os livros.



Encadernação Artesanal é um trabalho que prende a pessoa ao lugar, demorado, minucioso, e precisa ser um trabalho contínuo, diário, exige paciência, dedicação......e TEMPO.



Desse tripé acima, o que realmente poderia tirar seria a loja; desativar a loja por algum tempo e quando pudesse, ativa-la novamente.

Mas dói. Dói ter que fazer isso. Doeu quando comentei esse assunto com alguns seguidores e pessoas amigas, que se espantaram com minha decisão apesar de entenderem minha situação.



Passei Janeiro e Fevereiro "moendo" tristeza, tentando achar uma forma de continuar com a loja mas ter tempo pra cuidar de mim e das pessoas que estão á minha volta.....



E há poucos dias atrás me veio essa ideia: de continuar com a loja mas reduzir a variedade de livros, limitar a variedade, ou seja, me dedicar a fazer apenas Sketchbooks para artistas e Livros das Sombras/Medievais. Essa ideia foi amadurecendo, e clareou minha mente, me deu esperanças de continuar.

  Vou fazer a experiência e tentar: se der certo, ótimo, caso contrário fecho a loja e tento abri-la mais á frente.



Pretendo abrir a loja ainda nesta semana ou no máximo semana que vem e colocarei alguns livros em promoção. Essa promoção será por tempo limitado, e após esse tempo se sobrarem livros, eles serão retirados da loja.

Quero deixar na loja apenas o que realmente vou fazer: Sketchbooks, Livros das Sombras e por enquanto também deixarei alguns Journals porque tenho muito material no estúdio e preciso usa-lo, então mesmo que eu tenha que fazer alguns livros apenas pra gastar o material, farei.



Neste ano o Estúdio Brigit completa 10 anos de vida, fazendo Arte, mostrando como fazer mas com certeza aprendendo muito mais observando a Arte das pessoas, então, vamos em frente!

The studio vacation is over and now it is time ...... art, art, art and let's go!



The last Tour video I did showing the studio was in 2016, in 2017 I did not do it because there was practically no major physical modification in it.



But for 2018 I moved some things around to make it easier to shoot YouTube videos and I made some decisions, let's see!



Whoever accompanies the studio probably noticed that in 2017 I almost did not make new book releases, in fact I only released Sketchbooks for artists almost at the end of the year.



Two reasons slowed me down: many years of doing the same binding movements, and I got a slight LER (Repetitive Strain Injury) on the wrists and a shoulder problem, and some other health problems also related to people in my family. That is, I needed time to take care of it all, and time is the key word for all the work and leisure we have.



There is no way to have time to do everything we want or what we owe, we try, but at some point we are forced to go slower or stop, to choose something and not to do it.



I always think of Estúdio Brigit as if it were supported on a tripod, and this tripod is: Blog, YouTube and Store. Last year it was very difficult to maintain this tripod.



The Blog is the basis of everything, everything the studio has done and produced is registered here through posts, as well as travel posts. It is a source of consultation for anyone who wants or need.



I can write posts anywhere in the world, wherever I am, and leave those posts scheduled for the dates I want, so I can always keep the blog updated.



YouTube is like the perfect match on the blog. All videos on YouTube has a corresponding post here on the blog and it is on YouTube that I can have direct contact with the Estúdio Brigit's followers, show my art, show tutorials, diy, and other subjects related to art, crafts, travel, curiosities ....... YouTube is very important.



I can make videos wherever I want, anywhere in the world, edit them on a laptop, and upload them to YouTube with a scheduled release.



And finally, the store. Making books. Yeah.



To make books I always have to go out to buy material, bring it to the studio, do everything from the preparation of the material to the final production of each book. Photograph each book, write a description and put it in the store. When someone buys a book I have to be in Rio because it is necessary to prepare it, to make the "magic and beautiful" package of the studio, to go to the Post Office. I need to be in the studio to do all of this and there's no way I can carry the studio anywhere in the world to make the books.



Handmade Binding is a job that holds the person to the place, time-consuming, meticulous, and needs to be a continuous, daily work, demands patience, dedication ... and TIME.



From that tripod above, what I could really take out would be the store; disable the store for some time and  turn it on again when possible.



But it hurts. It hurts having to do this. It hurt when I commented on this subject with some followers and friendly people, who were shocked at my decision despite understanding my situation.



I spent January and February "grinding" sadness, trying to find a way to continue with the store but also having time to take care of me and of the people that are around me .....



And a few days ago I got this idea: to continue with the store but to reduce the variety of books, limit the variety, that is, to dedicate myself on making only Sketchbooks for artists and Books of Shadows / Medieval. This idea was maturing, and cleared my mind, gave me hope to continue.



  I'll do the experiment and try: if it works, fine, otherwise I will close the store and try to open it further.



I intend to open the store later this week or next week and I will put some books on promotion. This promotion will be for a limited time, and after that time if there are books left, they will be removed from the store.



I want to leave the store with just what I'm really going to make: Sketchbooks, Books of Shadows and for now I'll also make some Journals because I have a lot of material in the studio and I need to use it, so even though I have to make some books just to spend the material, I will do.



This year Estúdio Brigit completes 10 years of life, doing Art, showing how to do it but for sure learning a lot more by watching the Art of the people, so let's go!

Caneta Tinteiro & Noodler's Ink (Fountain Pen & Noodle's Ink) - VIDEO

Na semana passada falei sobre as diferenças entre canetas tinteiro e canetas permanentes (clique aqui) e uma das diferenças é o tipo de tinta usada por cada uma.

Nas canetas permanentes, também chamadas de marcadores, a tinta é resistente ou á prova d'água e isso permite que façamos um desenho e aquarelemos depois, não vai borrar.

Last week I talked about the differences between fountain pens and permanent pens (click here) and one of the differences is the type of ink used in each one.

On permanent pens, also called markers, the paint is resistant or waterproof and this allows us to make a drawing and watercolor it later, it will not blur.

A caneta tinteiro, desde seu surgimento oficial na Europa no século XVII, é conhecida também pela característica de sua tinta, ou seja, não é resistente á água e basta uma gota de qualquer líquido para borrar toda a escrita ou desenho.

Claro que podemos tirar proveito dessa característica usando-a como parte da arte quando se trata de um desenho, mas poder escrever e principalmente desenhar e depois aquarelar  era o sonho de muitos artistas.

The fountain pen, since its official appearance in Europe in the 17th century, is also known by the characteristic of its ink, that is, it is not resistant to water and a drop of any liquid is sufficient to blur all writings or drawings.

Of course we can take advantage of this characteristic by using it as part of the art when it comes to drawing, but being able to write and mainly draw and then watercolor the drawing was the dream of many artists.

O problema era que as tintas permanentes entupiam as canetas tinteiro e muitas vezes de forma irreparável então só nos restava a opção de usar tinta permanente com as antigas bico de pena presas a madeiras onde mergulhávamos o bico diretamente no vidro de tinta. Hoje em dia muitos artistas ainda usam esse método, e eu acho até charmoso mas não é prático porque ficamos com um vidro de tinta aberto em cima da mesa.......comigo isso sempre dá mau resultado.

The problem was that permanent inks clogged the fountain pens and many times in an irreparable way so we only had the option of using dip pens, with the nibs attached to woods, where we dipped the nib directly into the ink bottle. Nowadays many artists still use this method, and I find it even charming but it is not practical because we have an open ink bottle on the table ....... with me this always gives a bad result.

Bom, mas algumas empresas pesquisaram  e desenvolveram algumas tintas resistentes á água que depois de secas ficam permanentes podendo ser usadas em canetas tinteiro. 

Well, but some companies have researched and developed some water-resistant inks that, after drying, are permanent and can be used in fountain pens.

Na lista abaixo temos algumas marcas, e as cores que são permanentes depois que secam e podem ser usadas em canetas tinteiro:

Das tintas acima as que já experimentei e gostei são a Noodler's Black, a Noodler's Lexington Gray e a De Atramentis Document Ink Black.

Of the above inks I've tried and enjoyed the  Noodler's Black, Noodler's Lexington Gray and De Atramentis Document Ink Black.

Mas calma! Como eu disse acima, existem cores que não são permanentes e isso vem especificado no rótulo, é preciso ter atenção. Se você quer alguma cor diferente das que estão na lista acima o melhor é ler a descrição do produto ou até copiar o nome  e a cor exatas e pesquisar no Google, além disso, dependendo do lote da tinta da lista acima ela pode ter sofrido alguma alteração e não ser mais resistente a água, então, leia sempre a descrição antes de comprar!

But calm down! As I said above, there are colors that are not permanent and this comes specified on the label, you need to have attention. If you want some color other than those listed above it is best to read the product description or even copy the exact name and color and search on Google, and depending on the stock of the ink listed above  it may have changed being no more water resistant, so always read the description before buying!

Agora vamos comparar as tintas comuns pra canetas tinteiro, ou seja, tintas á base de água, com a tinta Noodle's Lexington Gray que é a que eu tenho no momento:

No teste acima, a única que não borrou foi a Noodler's Ink.

In the test, the only ink that did not blot was the Noodler's Ink.

Depois que fiz os traçados eu esperei até ter certeza que estavam secos, inclusive com a Lexington Gray porque ela só é á prova d'água depois que seca então se passarmos um pincel molhado enquanto ela ainda estiver úmida, ela vai borrar. As outras, como são á base de água, borram.

After I did the strokes I waited until I was sure they were dry, even with the Lexington Gray because it is only waterproof after it dries so if we pass a wet brush while it is still wet, it will blur . The others, as they are water-based, always blur.

Poder escrever e principalmente desenhar com uma caneta tinteiro que não borra era e ainda é o sonho de muitos artistas, mas aí está: agora o sonho é possível!

Being able to write and mainly draw with a fountain pen that does not smudge was and still is the dream of many artists: now the dream is possible!

Caneta Tinteiro x Marcador Permanente - Qual a melhor? (Fountain Pen x Permanent Marker - Which is better?)

Será que eu sou a pessoa mais indicada pra falar de caneta tinteiro? Acho que sou suspeita porque eu adoro caneta tinteiro!



A caneta tinteiro veio em substituição ao bico de pena e foi uma invenção revolucionária no começo do século XX, portanto podemos dizer que ainda é uma invenção recente. 

Mas ainda tem muita gente que usa o bico de pena, principalmente por artistas que fazem trabalhos a nanquim.



O corpo das canetas tinteiro normalmente é em plástico ou metal e a tinta vem em cartuchos, ou em vidros e "sugadas" para dentro da caneta através de um conversor. 

As penas também podem ser escolhidas de acordo com a espessura que se deseja, enfim, hoje em dia temos uma variedade enorme desses objetos preciosos!

Am I the right person to talk about fountain pens? I think I'm suspicious because I love fountain pens!

The fountain pen came in replacement of the feather pen and was a revolutionary invention in the early twentieth century, so we can say that it is still a recent invention.

But there are still a lot of people who use the feather pen, especially by artists who use to draw with nanquim.

The bodies of the fountain pens are usually in plastic or metal and the ink comes in cartridges, or in glasses and is "sucked" into the pen through a converter.

The nibs can also be chosen according to the thickness we want, in fact, nowadays we have a huge variety of these precious objects!

Além da enorme variedade de cores de tinta, poder escolher a espessura que queremos nas penas torna essa caneta ainda mais atrativa. Na verdade cada pena nos dá ao menos duas espessuras diferentes: uma é quando escrevemos normalmente, com a pena para baixo; a outra é quando viramos a pena para cima e obtemos um traço mais fino.



Com um pouco de prática podemos obter outras espessuras usando uma única pena.



Outro fato que me atrai bastante é que a caneta tinteiro dá total liberdade á mão, seja pra escrever, seja pra desenhar, então podemos praticamente deita-la segurando-a como se fosse um lápis de desenho.



Além disso, o fato de podermos recarregar a caneta e trocar a cor da tinta faz dela a minha preferida quando comparada com outras canetas.



Mas, temos o outro lado da moeda...porque essas canetas precisam de maior cuidado, de limpeza constante tanto do corpo quanto da parte interna, e da pena. Uma queda pode danificar totalmente a ponta; a tinta pode vazar se a pena estiver frouxa ou o corpo da caneta estiver rachado; a tinta também tem que ser específica pra caneta tinteiro senão o risco de entupir a pena definitivamente é bem grande. Normalmente as tintas são á base de água, ou seja, elas borram se algum pingo de água cair sobre a escrita ou o desenho.

In addition to the huge variety of ink colors, choosing the nib we need makes this pen even more attractive. In fact each pen gives us at least two different nib thicknesses: one is when we write normally, with the nib down; the other is when we turn the nib up and get a finer stroke.

With a little practice we can get other thicknesses using a single nib.

Another fact that attracts me a lot is that the fountain pen gives freedom to the hand, either to write or to draw, so we can practically lay it down holding it like a drawing pencil.

Besides, the fact that we can recharge the pen and change the color of the ink makes it my favorite when compared to other pens.

But we have the other side of the coin ... because these pens need greater care, constant cleaning of both the body and the inner part, and the pen. A fall can totally damage the nib; the ink may leak if the nib is loose or the pen body is cracked; the ink also has to be specific for fountain pens, otherwise the risk of clogging the nib is definitely too great. Usually the ink are water-based, that is, they blur if any drop of water fall on the writing or drawing.

As canetas permanentes, chamadas "marcadores", também são outra revolução bem vinda no mundo das artes!

Com espessuras de pontas de vários tamanhos (inclusive com ponta tipo pincel)  e o melhor, com uma tinta resistente á água, essas canetas também estão entre as preferidas pelos artistas. São leves, práticas, podem ser compradas em quase todos os lugares, existem em várias cores mas......não são recarregáveis: acabou a tinta, vão para o lixo.



Além disso, elas não permitem uma variação de espessura nem dão total liberdade á mão quando desenhamos porque é preciso que estejam relativamente na vertical para que escrevam/desenhem, limitando nossos movimentos.



Algo que também não me agrada e que já me fez jogar algumas canetas fora, é que a ponta (normalmente um tipo de feltro) ás vezes entra no corpo da caneta e dificulta ainda mais os movimentos da mão.

Mas, tudo é questão de hábito e de gosto pessoal. Há quem prefira os marcadores e deteste as canetas tinteiro. Há quem prefira apenas as canetas tinteiro, um modo mais "tradicional", e há pessoas que como eu preferem a caneta tinteiro mas também usam e se adaptam bem aos marcadores permanentes.

E você, qual delas prefere? 

Bom, se você pensou: "Ah, Cris, eu prefiro a caneta permanente porque a tinta é resistente á água!" ....aqui está uma ótima notícia: existem empresas que fabricam tintas resistentes á água que podem ser usadas nas canetas tinteiro sem danificar a caneta! Mas isso é assunto pro vídeo da semana que vem!

 But it's all a matter of habit and personal preference. Some people prefer permanent pens and hate fountain pens. There are those who prefer only  fountain pens, a more "traditional" way, and there are people like me who prefer the fountain pen but also use and adapt well to permanent markers.
